Doctor Who Scoops TV Choice Awards

Doctor Who was triumphant in two of the three categories it was nominated for at this year’s TV Choice Awards.

The show won Best Family Drama beating Casualty, Merlin and NTA rival

Karen Gillan scooped Best Actress against Amanda Burton (Waterloo Road), Vicky McClure (This Is England ’86) and the late Elisabeth Sladen (The Sarah Jane Adventures).

Matt Smith was unable to complete the hat trick. Instead, Best Actor went to the next best man – David Tennant for his role in Single Father. Tennant also snatched victory from Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and Colin Morgan (Merlin).
