Whedon on Writing Who: Check Back When the Doctor is a She

Joss Whedon has said he might consider writing for Doctor Who, if the Doctor becomes female.

Best known for shows like Buffy, Firefly and, more recently, the Avengers films, Whedon admits he would find it a daunting task due to the show’s long history: “I’d have to do a lot of research. Like, what, watch 40 years of television?

“I’ve seen some of it, but let’s let’s get real. It would be very daunting to follow in the footsteps of Moffat and the guys,” he told attendees at the Nerd HQ Comic Con panel.

He adds: “It is great, but check back with me when the Doctor is she. Or Idris Elba.”
