Lot of postings here comparing this to the Time Warrior, but couple of differences. Firstly, The a Time Warrior was written by a great writer, Robert Holmes. Secondly it was 4 25 min eps long which gave the plot a decent chance to develop and a decent conclusion to be shown. Thirdly The Time Warrior was a great story still remembered and watched now, and by recent standards I'm not hopeful that this one will be. Still open mind and all that !

Miller looks REALLY similar to Delgado. Perhaps the Master with a pocket watch?

I just realized these: Clara is likely playing Maid Marian; the ominous knight is a robot.

I do hope Robin's 143 men actually wear Lincoln green, and not just any old shade of green. It is a vitally important part of their backstory!

(The Earl of Lincoln had a private army of 300 men, who were dressed in 'Lincoln green'. On one occasion, when they were trying to storm a castle in which King Edward's male partner was hiding (IIRC) news came that Edward was sending reinforcements to help. Upon hearing this, half of the 300 men ran away. These men became Robin Hood's gang of 143 men - the 'Merry Men', as they are often called.)

Please have absolutely no aliens. Fair enough if Ben Miller is the Master, but no "monsters", we could do with a nice pure historical, it's only been 32 years!

plus the robots in the medieval time is very 'Time Warrior' when Lynx makes a robot for the Lord and a bit 'Kings Demons' on the whole with the setting

wasn't Robin Hood meant to be fictional? I mean this is like the Doctor meeting Sherlock Holmes or James Bond or something, makes no sense, I know this is Doctor Who and not real but there is still such a thing as fictional and non fictional in the Doctor Who Universe

So, if Ben Miller isn't cast as The Master - seeing how much he looks like Roger Delgado - the BBC will be missing out big style.

Can I just say, I have had a few lessons on how to shoot a longbow and Capaldi has got it spot on. He looks great.

Looks like a proper medieval romp! Been wanting one for ages. Hope Gatiss delivers!

The Sherrif of Nothingham as the enemy? Sort of predictable, actually, but nonetheless exciting.

The Sheriff looks like The Master! ....and Jenna looks beautiful. Can't wait!

Looks like I'll get what I wanted, the Doctor using a bow and arrow :) (hopefully next a swordfight)

The knight looks a bit like a robot. Maybe he's one of the robots of Sherwood.

While it will be good to have a new setting for a story, I hope it's not just a retelling of the robin hood story. Episodes that try to be a new twist on a classic rarely are very good.

Looks like the King's Demons.

Medieval Cybermen? That would be cute.

And if they're Cybermen, Capaldi is going to round up a lot of Classic monsters in one series: Daleks, Cybermen, the Master (if the rumour is true), just he'd need a couple of Silurians (or Sea Devils) and few Zygons.

Golden arrow? Oh god, are Lady Peinforte and the Cybermen back?

I dunno why but this looks a bit reminiscent classic Doctor Who. That's a good thing :)

I was never a huge fan of medevial themed shows but this one does look good

This episode looks very good, but I think they should be really careful with it, because in such episodes incredibly cheesy and awesome are really close...

Part of me is reminded of the Arrow of Law from The Coming of the Terraphiles. Granted, that arrow was silver.

With a Scottish Doctor firing a bow, I can't resist a Brave reference...

@RebelTimeLord  Robin hood was a real person. It isn't entirely fiction. Robin hood was a the name given to a lot of outlaws, but the actual one from the stories existed too at a certain time, but i don't actually know when. Later this persona was merged with the others in folktales and that's the robin hood you know from the books. But the person actually existed.

@RobertLythgoe  Don't be silly. He'll obviously turn out to be the Rani. Or Omega. Or Dougal.

Maybe Moffat will fuel Capaldi/Pertwee comparisons by bringing back the Master for that...

Maybe he should mention it, would be a pretty bit, like when Matt talks about the Gobby Australian.

No, sorry! The Fifth Doctor meets King John in " The King's Demons".

Calebxy

Indeed. 'Robynhod' and similar forms were given as nicknames to outlaws. In fact, the writer of the ballads says that Robin Hood, Little John, Much and Will Scarlet are all just nicknames. It seems likely that 'Robin Hood' was actually three different people (in the original ballads, at least). 'Robin the master,' who the evidence suggests was Sir Geoffrey Luttrell III (he was a knight, as Robin was said to be; he was a merchant who sold cloth and the like, and when the King pardons Robin in the ballads he also asks him if he has any garments that the King could buy; being a merchant, he regularly travelled from Barnsdale to Nottingham, which are the locations the earliest ballads are based in; and most significantly, the ballads give directions to 'Robin the master's' house, and the house it leads to was owned by Sir Geoffrey in that time period); a skilled archer, who was one of the 143 'Merry Men'; and the poet himself, Richard Role.
