Chris Addison to Guest in Series 8 Finale

peter-capaldi-chris-addison-thick-of-itChris Addison will guest star in the two-part Series 8 finale.

Addison previously starred alongside Peter Capaldi in The Thick of It and its big-screen spin-off In The Loop.

Addison told the RadioTimes: “‘Would you like to be in Doctor Who?’ is the easiest question I’ve ever been asked. It’s a 35-year dream come true. Seven-year old me would be going off his nut and I’m not far behind.

“It’s a great way to spend a couple of weeks, working with people I’ve always wanted to work with on a show I’ve loved all my life. My bucket list is quite a lot shorter now.”

I hope his character is good.

So that explains the Doctor's new face, he's a Thick of It fan!  Addison must be the next face up.

Talking of guest stars, Frazer Hines is popping up in Outlander - you know, the show about a time traveller that meets a Scottish Highlander named Jamie...

Is "The Thick Of It" worth watching ? I would like to see what all the fuss is about

He's great. I'm excited for it!

It would be funny if Capaldi slipt into a Malcolm Tucker role and Addison was Ollie getting another bol***king at DoSAC. What...? Someone had to make a The Thick of It joke XD

This is a nice announcement. Addison worked with Capaldi perfectly over the course of The Thick of It and it will be great to see them working together within a new dynamic. It's also brilliant to hear that Addison is a big fan of the show, and has been since a child. I know that Doctor Who is loved world wide by many different kinds of people but sometimes I get surprised by who announces their love for it, and it's great that person gets a chance to be a part of it. Since both Capaldi and Addison are getting a chance at their dream jobs, that makes their second pair-up all the more sweeter. I bet it was really nice for them both to catch-up within this new mad world of childhood dreams.

Far out unlikely plot theory! Maybe. Just maybe Capaldi is actually the Master who escaped and came through in the regeneration power and swapped places with the real Doctor, tho he's forgotten ......and the real Doctor........ Chris Addison escapes Gallifrey in the final 2 parter!

These two had absolutely brilliant scenes together in The Thick Of It, very funny. I'm actually not keen on Chris Addison's stand up/comedy act, I think he's much better suited as an actor, so great news :)

I'm just remembering this comment from CA on Mock the Week, from Scenes We'd Never See on Doctor Who:

"Yes, I hang around mainly with much younger women. Yes, I was on television during the Seventies. Where are you going with this?"

Villain or comedic unit guy, he'd be great at either

I have yet to see the thick of it, but I know he's hilarious from mock the week, can't wait!

If Capaldi doesn't describe him as a Quentin Blake illustration again I'll be disappointed.

Yes! Finally for once a guest star I've actually heard of other than Keeley Hawes. Not just that, but he was brilliant in 'The Thick Of It'. I can't wait to see him in Doctor Who.

Imo opinion he should return series 9

Hmm, I'm not too fond of Chris Addison since he took Frankie Boyle's seat on Mock the Week, but he is a little funny. Ah well, the more guest starts, the merrier.

Wow! I only knew who Chris Addison was because I looked at "The Thick of It" recently after finding out it was a big thing in Peter Capaldi's career, and I only knew who he was because he'd been cast as "Doctor Who"...

Can't wait though. They clearly know how to act together - they've done it before!

This is brilliant. Can we get an appearance from the 'angriest man in Scotland' too?

Another genuine fan of the show, what is it about Comedians and Doctor Who :-)

this makes me so excited why dont they just get everyone from thick of it and have a full scale crossover?

I was wondering how long it would be before Chris Addison stars in Doctor Who with Peter Capaldi as The Doctor. Not long it would seem.

Oh wonderful. The two are just incredible together in The Thick Of It. Can't wait for this - even if it's just for a few scenes.

As a fan of The Thick Of It, I can say this is a great choice.

I love how they are including previous actors who have worked with PC. I love how shows and movies do this!

@Polyphase Highly recomend it but beware of potty mouth, if you don't like swearing you may have some trouble with it. It is worth it. Extremely funny. As I said before it's a bit like Yes Minister on sweary steroids.

@Polyphase I highly recommend it (and I'm not a sweary person). The swearing is integral to the performance. It's like a part of the scenery.

@Polyphase It really is - of course, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's hilarious. The swearing, too, is gorgeous.

Clara Laurinda

@Polyphase Well......the acting is great and the humour is dark and funny, but the language (and NOT just from Capaldi's famously foul-mouthed character, Malcolm Tucker) is a bit much, especially if you watch all the series, back to back O.O  So it's hard to flat out say YES BRILLIANT, Watch it all. It does put some people off (my husband won't go near it).. Why not watch an episode on Netflix and decide?

  1. […] Who didn’t tell me Chris Addison is guesting on Doctor Who this series?! I thought we were friends, y’all. (Also: Capaldi is genius in the role, the premiere was pretty solid, and Moffat must be stopped at all costs.) […]
