Series 7 Part 2 Launch Trailer Breakdown
It’s time to take an in-depth look at the latest BBC1 trailer for Series 7 Part 2. Tomorrow we’ll examine the BBC America one in greater detail.
NOTE: A few scenes have been omitted from this breakdown. It only looks at the new scenes for the most part. For further analysis on other scenes see the first trailer breakdown.
The opening shot is from Neil Gaiman’s episode, The Last Cyberman. We know that part or all of the story is set in an abandoned theme park called Hedgewick’s World. The sign on the floor from one of the rides says “Spacey Zoomer Ride.”
Clara: “What happened to me?”
This is from the ghost episode Hide by Neil Cross.
Doctor: “Don’t you remember?”
This appears to be from The Bells of Saint John.
This next two scenes are from The Rings of Akhaten by Neil Cross. This is the “boiling, red-orange planet” Steven Moffat previously described. It looks like a small settlement on the asteroid.
Clara is predictably amazed.
Warwick Davis plays a character called Porridge in The Last Cyberman.
Doctor: “You are the only mystery worth solving”
Yes, the suit looks exactly like the one the Tenth Doctor wore. We’d guess that this is a scene from Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.
The Rings of Akhaten. It appears the Doctor and Clara ride some sort of spacecraft to the asteroid settlement. Is that a pyramid? It could explain the possible Egyptian theme.
These currently unnamed monsters are also from the The Rings of Akhaten. They appear to be guarding the Mummy monster seen later in the trailer.
This, again, is from the ghost episode Hide by Neil Cross.
“Right then, Clara Oswald. It’s time to find out who you are…”
A familiar scene.
Given Clara’s clothing, these corridors seem to be from Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.
Finally a decent in-episode look at an Ice Warrior from Cold War! And it looks great in action. It’s being fired upon by the crew of the submarine no doubt, but the bullets just bounce off.
Again from Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS. Behind the Doctor and Clara you can see what looks could be the salvage crew, the Van Baalens.
Clara: “Run you clever boy.”
Clara is in the TARDIS here and repeating that line again. Clara will probably die. Again. (Someone had to replace Rory!)
Given the Victorian looking attire on these currently unnamed monsters, it looks to be from The Crimson Horror. But the finale is also a possibility as some of it reportedly takes place during that time.
Also intriguingly, but hard to tell from this screengrab, the gravestone behind them has “ONG” written on it, the rest obscured by the monster’s head. River SONG? It would fit in with recent rumours.
