Chibnall: Series 11 Will Lack Classic Foes, and Multi-Parters

New Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall has explained that Series 11 of Doctor Who will feature largely all-new monsters and villains. Yes, even the Daleks might not appear, for once.
“It’s pretty much all new stories, all new monsters, all new villains,” Chibnall said at a press event at San Diego Comic-Con. “I think we’re two weeks from finishing filming… and we haven’t come across any old villains yet.”
Of course, Chibnall could just be a little ‘creative with the truth’ here, like a certain Moffat was notorious for. The team could also theoretically film a returning monster in the time they have left. So perhaps there’s hope yet.
One thing that has been dropped for sure though is multi-part stories: “It’s 10 standalone episodes, there’s no two-parters or anything like that,” Chibnall told Digital Spy. “What we want is for people to feel like we’ve got the range and variety of Doctor Who this year. So if you’ve never seen it before, you’re gonna fall in love with it, and if you have seen it, you’re gonna get those things that you love about the show across the 10 episodes.”
