what i find weird, is that if you were an immortal timelord that could change into any person you want to, why would you choose an elderly man?

now i see why some people say that twelve reminds them of an older ten

Looks like they took a detour via Mars on the way to that place.

The placement of the TARDIS looks similar to the drawing Capaldi did as a teenager (or thereabouts) appearing in Doctor Who International Fan Club Magazine. Hope he becomes inspired to create some more Doctor Who themed artwork...

So it looks like it's a beach scene from the water pictures in the link. Looks very classic who, for some reason. It made me think of the sea devils... do we know anything about this episode yet?

I think I read somewhere that Hermione Norris was playing the part of the granddaughter of Adelaide Brooke (Water of Mars).  Might just be a rumor or someone's imagination.

My mind went to Donna, then the orange spacesuit, then to Dr. Spaceman from 30 Rock when I saw the title.

Duuude. I am absolutely loving how much the Sanctuary Base Six spacesuit has been showing up lately. Looked just right on Tennant. Didn't really think it suited Smith. But Capaldi wears it perfectly! Can't wait for this episode now! I just wonder how everybody else got one. They did recently say that the Doctor would be returning to the scene of an old adventure. Perhaps they will be returning to the time zone of The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit. Not the actual planet since it was kinda sorta sucked into a black hole, but perhaps the same time? Just can't wait to find out!

The pic of Capaldi leaning against the TARDIS reminds me of that picture of Ecclestein pulling a similar pose.

It really looks like Enemy of the World.... What if it's an episode explaining how the doctor's faces are spread throughout the universe... Caecilius in Fires of Pompeii filming at the volcano, Salamandar on the beach from enemy... Theories theories theories

Capaldi really looks alien in that spacesuit.

Can't wait for the the  BBC to start advertising series 8 and have lots of interviews with Peter talking about  the Doctor.

Looks very interesting. I like the picture taken by Amy Husband, its a great picture of Peter Capaldi and the TARDIS I feel.

Am I the only person who reads "Pic by Amy Husband" and sees "Pic by Amy's Husband" i.e. it's Rory taking the photos!

Looks like the Patrick Troughton episode "Enemy of The World"

I love this tiny little details that bond a Doctor with his predecessors, it's a lovely way to make the continuty of the series, of make evident the phrase "He's always the same man". From the skinny spunky with sandshoes and great hair to the grumpy grey-haired with Doc Martens, passing through the quirky cute boy with a cool bowtie and a lovely quiff, he's always The Doctor, with his habits, skills and wardrobe.

And by the way, he looks really good on it, the photos are awesome.

I have a feeling this will connect to the episode that Danny was wearing one! Maybe a plot through out or something.. but i hope it is pompeii just because of the lava etc it would protect them?? Only because they have no helmets im thinking earth, history, present day or future. But i really want this to be pompeei as it would fit in perfectly

Looking good in an orange spacesuit should be a requirement for the Doctor, and Capaldi is passing with flying colours. Damn, he looks fantastic! Hope this suit also means danger and something reeeally unpleasant for the Doctor, hehehe.

these pictures are really promising and i love that suit! though i wonder what the point of them is if they just take the helmets off. i would like to see the tardis on a planet with an inhospitable atmosphere requiring the spacesuits. im really worried about this Ellis George though. i really believe that a child companion is a really bad move. i love moffatt and his era and everything, but i do wonder if he responds effectively to criticisms. angie and arty were almost whoniversally (ooh good word) hated and they came close to ruining Nightmare in Silver for me. so why would he decide to have another child in the TARDIS now? if she has a major role in the series, it would probably be a very serious issue for me. obviously i love the show and will keep watching, and i know im judging too early, but im dreading her appearance in these episodes. still, Capaldi looks great in that spacesuit!!! but then he looks great in anything. kind of wish i had his face...

@Oodkind We know that to film something for this episode, they went to the location where Peter Davison story Planet of Fire was filmed, and that the Doctor is returning to the location of an old adventure in this episode...

Actually, I'd love to see it.

I think it looks like a scene from a Classic Doctor Who episode.

@Liana21 same sonic ,same companion presumably the same  logo, i think this is more of a eccelston - tennant transition  where little  changed as opposed to a tennant -smith transition where everything changed

@gunslinger19 I was wondering about the helmets, maybe they are special helmets that'll be CGI added afterwards, I'm referred to something similar to the bubble mask worn in Harry Potter 4 when they go under water :)

The Outer Space K9

The reason the kids ruined Nightmare in Silver was that they were badly written. I mean, come on show a kid the Tardis and he would be thrilled, he/she wouldn't call it a stupid spaceship.

And besides in Doctor Who terms Angie was the Dalek, totally indifferent and mean while Artie was an Adipose - cuddly, friendly and not very smart.

@gunslinger19  It all counts on how good an actress Ellis George is and what her character will be like. We're still months away from seeing these episodes so I think it's a bit early to be stating that a "kid" character joining the TARDIS team would be a serious issue. We don't even know what she'll be like. If she's a good actress playing an interesting "child" character then why not? And, technically, she's a teenager, not a kid, since it's been confirmed that she's a student at Coal Hill School. And, on a last note, am I the only person who wasn't all that annoyed by Angie and Artie? They weren't amazing or anything but I don't think they were as bad as everyone paints them as.

ilyootha
ilyootha

@TheNameOfTheDoctorI highly doubt it, they probably have just arrived from some planet where they needed the spacesuits but didn't have time to take them off, or have simply removed the helmets after making sure the atmosphere is breathable.

It occurs to me that we're seeing placement shots, ie the actors are finding their marks for benefit of the cameras and other equipment, in which case they don't need the helmets/

@NineTenElevenTwelve @gunslinger19  your right it is too early to judge, as I'm only 17 myself, I'm sure that mu prejudice is partly based on jealousy. but i generally find child actors to be weak and much worse i find their dialogue to be abysmal. Gaiman's a terrific writer but as a teenager, i can confidently say that no-one would behave or speak like Angie and to a lesser extent Artie. just about every scene they were in made me cringe. my main concern is that the writing for Ellis George will be weak and although she may be a good actor, i dont have faith in whoever cast her as they presumably also cast Angie's actress. also, i feel that children in shows like doctor who are often given unrealistic attributes. for no particular reason they might be for example incredibly resourceful, intelligent and brave. while some people might just have these qualities, it normally feels forced. take Angie's revalation about Porridge for instance. how could she make those deductions? and if she did guess, she still wouldnt be 100% and straight up declare that Porridge was the Emperor. i might also be slightly biased about this as this twist led to what i see as a cop out ending of an otherwise superb episode. but overall, i do think that a child companion should never be done again. i have often worried that it would happen, but somehow iv always had faith that the writers would decide against it. this worries me.
