Well, isn't that episode rumored to be themed robin hood? I guess he could be a medieval thief.

I can't think of what I've seen him in but he looks really familiar

Gatiss said he was hoping to do something historical, so there's a chance he could be a cool historical character of some sort.

Haven't seen him before. I'm curious what part he'll be playing and how he does it.

When I saw him as Da Vinci the first time, I couldn't stop thinking about the Doctor, because his portrayal was very doctor-ish.

I think it's awesome that Riley will be appearing in the show. He's far from a household name, but as a viewer of Da Vinci's Demons I'm thrilled about this casting announcement. For me, he is one of the focal points of the show, often elevating the lackluster storylines. I just hope he is given a meaty part to play and that this will be among Gatiss' better episodes. The man has yet to astonish me with one of his Doctor Who scripts (AAISAT not included) so it can only get better.

He's brilliant in Davinci's Demons. Very Doctor-ish.

Could he be playing Da Vinci? That'd be an interesting era for Mark to explore and it'd be a move away from the Victorian period for those who seem to hate it. Either way, the guest cast this series is fantastic!

Think this means a Gatiss ep will be filming soon?  Maybe Gatiss wrote Episode 6?

From what I've seen of Da Vinci's Demons, he's a good actor. Can't remember him in Twenty Twelve or Inspector Lewis, and haven't seen the other mentioned things.

The only British actors that I know are the ones that have been in Doctor Who, but still good to hear a bit of casting news.

Can't say I've ever heard of any of these titles or the actor, but I am grateful for some new doctor who news. Livens up my day.

here's hoping for more crimson horror instead of cold war.

@MowTheFrontLawn  That be my thinkin' too! Episode 3 and 6 in block three of filming. They're one week and a couple of ddays into Episode 3. If they've picked up the pace a bit, they should be shooting Gatiss' ep by the end of next week.

@FMOB11 @MowTheFrontLawn  Yes, but Episode 6 is next in the filming schedule.  And we learned earlier today that Episode 6 will be shot soon and is by Gareth Roberts (Gatiss is Episode 3).

@Notsosmartguy Well, City of Death features the Mona Lisa and Da Vinci's study, but I don't think Da Vinci himself has appeared.
