New decorations! It seems the Tardis has been redecorated, I like it!

Is it me or does it look like something is coming through the grills below Clara?

I think they should of started the series two weeks later on September 6th. In the UK its a Public holiday and if the weather is good people will be out and people will still be on holiday. I expect the overnight ratings to be low.

Has anyone else spotted the kind of picture frames around the back of the console, there is one above Clara's head and to her right! Stasis cubes reference? Galifrey painting?

The Countdown that was put on the home page screwed me up for a little bit, because I was thinking "Wait.  The show premieres at 10:00 a.m.?  What?"  And then I remembered that the U.K. is about eight hours ahead of the U.S.  XD

Wait a minute. I think I see something they've added to the TARDIS set! Those circular lights round the platform. Below the railing. Fairly certain those weren't there before. And I wonder if it's just for promotional stuff, or if the lights are actually gonna be red/orange colours instead of blue/green. Could be interesting.

August 23rd November 23rd. coincidence I think not!

Has it been pointed out the Doc seems to be wearing a wedding ring?

The Doctor is at heart a good man.  Season 22 and especially The Twin Dilemma got that wrong.

What kind of an air date is that? That's still in the holidays! I'M IN SPAIN!!!!!

I think the black shirt Capaldi wears in filming pics suits him better than this one. It makes the lack of any neck gear less visible too.

Either Clara's comment "I don't know who the doctor is anymore" is cliched or the doctor must have undergone a massive alteration. She knows him better than anyone really so she better not be overreacting as she's seen the vast changes in the doctor's persona's.

you almost detect a hint of sarcasm in his voice, it's like a rhetorical question

Wow, that trailer is great! I hope we're in for a darker series.

And this is kind of irrelevant, but I like Clara's dress.

I was hoping Series 8 would premiere before I got sucked back into my academic tedium. Can't win 'em all, I guess.

I keep looking at this picture. It's not even the best the BBC could come up with but throughout the day I kept on looking at my phone's desktop to see it again. It's magic.

And thinking about it, this is just the first promo pic of the Doctor and Clara not exactly a promo pic for series 8 like the one for series 7b was with the monsters' refelection in the broken glass. Hope they'll do something similar for S8 too.

Just noticed that it was released 56 days before the premier and '56' is for peter capaldi's age

The 23rd of August. First it was July. Then August. Now very late August. And I much prefer it when it starts in April.

So here's a new thought. What if feature-length means the same length as Day of the Doctor, giving us a 75 minute episode, but, the other 30 minutes from the missing episode is added to episode 11 and 12 making the final two, hour long episodes. That would be nice!

The first trailer was released 6 months after the 50th.

I DO think this airdate is coincidence, though... :P

@Htershane72 Peter Capaldi never takes his wedding ring off. Which is nice of course, but I hope some reason is given for it in Doctor Who.

Maybe if you tried, in future, sending the BBC your holiday schedue; that could help.

I don't think she knows him as well as you think - she barely remembers her time in his timestream, and without that, she has been with him for what, a couple of months?

It's just a clever way to make people adjust to the new Doctor through Clara, and in a feature lenght episode I'm sure that will be well developed and explored.

And it's broadcast on the 23rd August is the day Fires of Pompeii is set and the 23rd August is when Caecilius buys the TARDIS

@Ollie Walton Harrod Opposite is true. First it was September, then Late, Late August and now it's Aug 23. I would say shooting has gone well.

The_Eternal_Dalek

@Unibot @Ollie Walton Harrod  First it was the 23rd of August. Everything has been fan speculation and is a very good reason to ignore it.

For another example, look at the debate over how many episodes there will be in the upcoming series. Some were saying 13, some were saying 12. Now the latest issue of DWM confirms It is 11 episodes. That doesn't mean the others were ever true, just that's what somebody on the internet thought.

Huknar
Huknar

@The_Eternal_Dalek @Huknar You are wrong. There are twelve episodes in the series, compared to the usual thirteen episodes. It's episode 11 and 12, they make up the final.

@Ollie Walton Harrod @Huknar Was The Eleventh Hour dragged out and Dull? Or any two-parter (other than The Almost People)? I think a lot of episodes need more time so we can have good endings and more character moments.

Ollie Walton Harrod
Ollie Walton Harrod

@Huknar @Ollie Walton Harrod no. It's that the writers need to write better. The show was fine with timing, up until last season, where every episode's problem was solved incredibly simply. And the last episode of the season, I consider terrible, but I don't think that can be blamed on timing. The story was just incredibly boring. - 'The Name of the Doctor'

The fact that all was fine up until the last season shows that timing, isn't the problem.

floppy_who
floppy_who

@Ollie Walton Harrod @A Friend of the Ood @Huknar Or maybe it's the show's script editor not doing a good job of trimming down source material to fit a 45 min screen time..? Script editors on the show are more often than responsible for making an OK script great in the past (Inferno, we're looking at you), so it's feasible that the reverse could be possible...

Ollie Walton Harrod

@ShameOnSM @Ollie Walton Harrod @Huknar  I kind of count that still as a 2 part finale, with a linking single part. Because 'Utopia' does still have its own story, and it just happens that the end of that episode, links straight on/leads to 'The Sound of Drums' and 'Last of the Time Lords'.

'Turn Left' has that same, though less so, linking single>2parter feel with 'The Stolen Earth' and 'Journey's End'.

I know 'Utopia' probably does count by most as part of a 3 parter, but I just say linking single>2parter .

Ollie Walton Harrod

@PaulMorris1 @Ollie Walton Harrod  Sorry. When I said the last season, I was thinking of Series 7 - part 2. Part 1 I think, had a few very good episodes.

Though with 'The Power of Three': I liked it until it came to the boxes actually doing something. One playing bad music to annoy people? Oh wow, massive threat. And I can't really remember the resolution too well, but I don't think I liked it very much. Most of that episode was good though, I think.

A Friend of the Ood
A Friend of the Ood

@Ollie Walton Harrod @PaulMorris1 I think you missed the point. The boxes themselves weren't supposed to be threatening, they were just used to learn about people. The resolution was just a dumb sonic screwdriver thing, but other than that it was good.
