Foxes Cast in Series 8

Foxes-Doctor-WhoBritish singer-songwriter Foxes will perform a track and appear in the new series of Doctor Who, which lands this August on BBC One.

Foxes, speaking about her casting said: “I can’t believe I’m actually going to be in an episode of Doctor Who! Especially as it all came about from a chance meeting. I was playing a gig and got chatting to the show’s production team who’d been watching my performance. I was telling them how much I loved Doctor Who and next thing they invited me to be on it. I couldn’t think of a better place to make my acting debut than on one of the UK’s most iconic shows!”

Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, said: “We are completely thrilled that the amazingly talented Foxes is joining us on board … well, you’ll see. Let’s just say, the Doctor is finally catching up on his phone calls.”

Grammy award-winning Foxes has recently been on tour in the UK, supporting her album Glorious, which recently debuted top 5 in the official album chart. This follows on from her three hit singles – Youth, Let Go For Tonight and Holding Onto Heaven.

Guest stars confirmed to join Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the new series, which will air on BBC One this August, include Frank Skinner, Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Keeley Hawes and Hermione Norris.

I actually had no idea who she was before I googled her. I HAD heard Clarity before, though. After listening to her music I have to say i'm now a fan of hers :D

Never heard of her, I can't honestly say if that's bad or not. I'm British, does that make it worse?

Ok, as a Foxes fan, this is pretty major for me but from the other comments, I guess many of you have no idea who she is.

Foxes is a singer (Louisa Allen her real name is I think) from Southampton in England. She rose to fame last year and earned a Grammy for featuring on Zedd's (DJ and produced the majority of Lady Gaga's ARTPOP album) Clarity.

Louisa has an album out right now which probably didn't do as wellasit deserved to do as it was released on he same week as Michael Jackson's XSCAPE album so people wouldn't have noticed. Her sound is quite similar to Gaga, Björk, Dan Croll, MS MR, BANKS, AlunaGeorge, HAIM, Bastille, The Neighbourhood, Charli XCX, Betty Who, Vance Joy, Disclosure and The 1975.

I hope this helps, have a little look at her album, I think many of you may like it! And also, no, I'm not from her management, I'm 14! :')

If Series were judged on how good they were by cameos, Series 8 would be the best so far even though it's not aired!

I love how a singer is cast in the show and suddenly loads of people are assuming we are getting a Doctor Who Musical :P Anyway, never heard of her, but I shall listen to some of her songs when I get the chance.

Guys calm down. The last time it went musical was great (a Christmas carol) and singer do have potential to act. Just look at Billie Piper

Just youtubed a few of her songs, to get any idea of what to expect. It's slightly Gaga-ish and Björk-ish music, that skirts the line between being strangely interesting and weird for weirdness' sake. Can't say whether I like it or not, but thankfully it's not typical Brit-pop.

Scrolling through the comments, it's funny how few of us know who this is. I can't say I've heard of her.

I don't have the faintest idea of who she is, not even a smidge. Moffat, the next time, call Sakis Rouvas, he would've been cuter with Matt (two hot guys on the TARDIS), but at least I know him.

My first impression when I read the titles was "What the ...." because mt computer didn't load the picture on the page and all I could read ''foxes cast in series 8'' and I thought the BBC had gone mad...or I did.

Doctor Who: The Musical? I just suddenly flashed up the equivalent idea from an episode of Batman Beyond.

Doctor (in audience, to Clara): You hate me for regenerating, don't you?

So, rumours of a Doctor Who musical episode are knocking around. Probably untrue but still, just for grins, what would it be called? My personal favourites that I can think of, in no particular order, would be:

The Doctor on the Roof

Clara Oswald and the Cyber Factory

High Skaro Musical

@DavidChippa True, but that's a mystery related to Clara and has nothing to do with the Doctor "catching up on his phone calls".

@Polyphase I've never heard of her here in America, and it seems the Brittish people here haven't heard of her either... Maybe she's just very popular in Moffat's head!

@Liana21 I know this may be heard for to hear Liana, and from the bottom of my heart I apologies for doing this to you .. but it has to be said.... Moff's solee intention is not to bring hot guys into the TARDIS XD

I have no idea who Sakis Rouvas is, not even a smidge :) At least I've heard Foxes...!

@LGwalchmai95 Capaldi has a great gravelly singing voice, so I would not mind having an episode taking place among early 20th century vaudeville-circles, or set during the advent of talkies as an homage to Singin in the rain.

@Oodkind Only going off what I've read on the net :) It made sense because Moffat seems to aim the show towards the American audience

You must hear Spase to Xrono, the percussion at the beginning sounds a little bit Whovian.

A real Whosical trilogy? Could go either way! We could have a big Cybermen flash mob or street dance group! There is a lovely image in my head now aha!

It does, indeed - and possibly the best part ;) The rest of it isn't my cup of tea, although I notice that in the video the lead has two female assistants....!
