Baker back for 50th Anniversary?
We’ve received a news tip from several readers pointing to reports claiming Tom Baker is returning for the 50th anniversary.
This originates from a month old story in the Daily Express, which should really tell you all you need to know.
Here’s their “report”:
FORMER Doctor Who star Tom Baker is being lined up to make a dramatic return to the television series to mark the show’s 50th anniversary, Day & Night can reveal.
The actor, who starred as the Time Lord from 1974 to 1981, has been approached about reprising the role when the show celebrates its half century in 2013.
Famed for his character’s trademark scarf and curly hair, Baker, now 78, will join forces with current Time Lord Matt Smith, 29. “It will be fitting to have Tom back to mark the 50 years,” says a show insider. “He was a big part of the show’s success and is much-loved by the fans.”
In terms of reliability, The Express are only slightly above the IMDb, the site notorious for spreading bogus rumours. If Tom does indeed return, we expect the BBC will be announcing it very loudly!
Last month, Tom Baker gave his thoughts: “I think if they ask me nicely or I can see what they want me to do, I’d consider it. I think the fans have been so good to me, they’d expect me to at least make an appearance.”
