Sorry to be so nit picky, but there is no slash between doctor who proms 2013 and the time of the doctor on the bottom row of the box set...

Glad I held off buying the individual DVDs and the BBC finally got round to announcing details on the boxset. Just pre-ordered, looking forward to having it added to my boxset collection!

Just ordered mine from Amazon. I think. Got to be honest I'm a bit gutted at the lack of commentaries on TDOTD but it's Doctor Who so it gets bought!

So I ordered this last night from the BBC Shop.  However, my receipt says it is "backordered."  I don't know if that means the limited edition has now run its course or whether it's because it's also listed as available for preorder.  Why continue to offer a set that is no longer available, especially if there is no guarantee at present of a second run?  Or will there be a second run?

I'm in Australia, will this play for me? It says Region 2 and in Australia we use Region 4. Why would they ship worldwide if it won't play here?

So this is available world wide.... Which nincompoop decided it should be limited then!?

DaisyK

I see the BBC Shop is offering shipping to the rest do the world outside the UK. Speaking as one living in the US, will they be sending out the correct region Blu-ray/DVD for each purchaser, or is it only Region 2/B and have fun buying a region free player?

Is there a chance there will be a Region 1/Region A release?

Pre ordered the Blu ray version. Now to sell my copies of Day and Time!

Alright, pre-ordered. Now to sell Day and Time on eBay in the hope that some gullible Who fan will buy them…

I wonder if there is any chance of later on getting all of these together, minus Name and Time, once the limited edition is sold out?

So, deleted scenes: are we going to see the Doctor's leg fall off?

:O what do I do, I want it oh so much! :D I have the money but holiday coming up in November, I need to save as much as possible. AHHH (Give me a day or so, I'll give in :P)

Do you think they're gonna put 'Time' in the Series 8 box set. Sick of having to buy all the episodes I already have on DVD. Waste of money. BBC milking the cash cow once again.

Just wandering, should that last day be included in the "episodes" category?

Cheapest on BBC Shop and only place I could find both. Also, if you look around the site you'll find a discount code for 10% off orders over £35 so I'm pre-ordering both DVD and Blu-ray for £54.88 instead of £60.98

Does anyone know where you can pre-order this from other than BBC shop? I live in New Zealand and want to buy a copy before they become too expensive

Sounds like a great box set and the artwork looks great as well.

Where is this available for pre-order?

I SO need to get this...I already have Name, but this is certainly worth having 2 copies of it! The special features look great too, and it'll be great to have Time, Day, and Night of the Doctor on DVD, with The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot and An Adventure in Space and Time thrown in there as a nice treat as well. Seems like the ultimate boxset of the 50th celebrations!

No need to worry, "backordered" is their standard listing for anything they don't have immediately to hand -- it always says it on pre-orders. As it's limited edition they'll likely have all the stock they're ever going to have on release day; they also probably know how many copies they're going to get and will stop taking orders when thy reach that number.

Skylord Maldon
Skylord Maldon

@measkren I think what it means is they have a limited stock ready to go when the release date is. Best example lets say they have 1000 of bluray and DVD ready to go, when they reach that they order the next lot. :) You are more than likely to get since you have paid for it, you may just have to wait a little longer depending on circumstances on the BBC's part

@Silurian53 The Bluray will definatley play in Australia, as they share the same region with the UK.

floppy_who
floppy_who

@Silurian53 Region 2 and 4 are quite frequently inter-compatible. Classic Who DVDs are coded R2 & R4, I think?

(it helps that we share the same video format!)

badblokebob

@Lemonhead118 The same nincompoop who probably did a sales forecast based on data from multiple previous box set re-releases and decided that these were the numbers they would sell. It surely must be based on information like that, because why else produce more for the format that on the whole sells fewer copies?

Also, everything's been available worldwide since this thing came along called "the internet".

DrOswald
DrOswald

@DaisyK I'm pretty sure It's only Region 2/B so will only work in the UK, Europe, NZ, Australia and most of Africa, or the US If you have a region free player

And more interestingly, the alternate cuts of the regeneration scene. Please please please please please.

@Second Doctor Ever since the new series began they've done extras-free (or almost extras-free) volume/standalone releases followed later by a box set with more content, so surely something like this set doesn't come as a surprise? OK, one episode is repeated from the Complete Series 7 set -- but do you really think that's made a huge (or any) difference to what they're charging? I don't.

BazHood
BazHood

@Second Doctor wouldnt have thought so. Its already had a stand alone release and a box set with all the other Matt Smith Xmas tales, hasn't it? Besides, the Series 8 box should, rightly, be all about Capaldi. New series. New Doctor :D

There's another 10% code floating around for all orders no matter the total.

Silurian53

Interesting, I've been trying to buy them all on DVD but if Blu-Ray plays and DVD doesn't so be it. Thanks for the help :)

Silurian53

I believe some classics are and some aren't. I've purchased a few classics from the uk. The 'Bred for War - Sontaran Collection' for instance, plays fine on my Australian ps3 but my uk purchase of 'The Cybermen Set' doesn't. Odd...

@SGMusic yep- that works...just pre-ordered the Blu-Ray set for £28.80..!
