The Snowmen Trailer Breakdown
It’s time to take a closer look at the first trailer for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, The Snowmen.
We open with Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) telling two children a bedtime “story.”
“There’s a man called the Doctor…”
Cut to scene of the Doctor whistling Silent Night.
Filming revealed that the Doctor is walking through this park, making his way to a structure with a ladder. He pulls down a ladder and climbs up.
Clara continues: “He lives on a cloud in the sky, and all he does, all day, every day is to stop all the children in the world ever having bad dreams.”
We suspect this is where the Doctor has hidden his TARDIS to keep it out of sight.
One of the children asks: “Am I going to have the nightmare tonight?”
Filming confirmed that Clara is the Governess of a household in the 1890s.
The Doctor rides away in a horse and cart.
From filming, the Doctor has just left Clara behind here stating that she is not his problem.
We then meet the Shalka Doctor, sorry, Richard E Grant who is playing the villainous Doctor Simeon here.
The Doctor is with returning character Strax (Dan Starkey – A Good Man Goes to War) investigating the snow.
He asks him: “When you find something brand new in the world, something you’ve never seen before, what’s the next thing you look for?”
Clara walks through the same park where the Doctor was before.
Doctor Simeon and two other men around some sort of strange electric device.
In one of the scenes filmed Clara is spying on the Doctor and follows him. She jumps to try and pull down the ladder but falls over. Eventually she makes it up and probably discovers where the TARDIS is hidden.
Strax is doing some recon here.
Clara shouts out: “DOCTOR!”
A brief glimpse of another returning character, Jenny from A Good Man Goes to War.
Filming revealed that Clara bumps into Jenny here and asks if she knows the Doctor and where he is.
Strax comically answers the Doctor’s earlier question with: “A grenade.”
Another returnee from A Good Man Goes to War, Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) claims: “The Doctor doesn’t help people.”
As the The Great Detective showed, the Doctor is “retired”. It appears Clara has gone to Vastra for help locating him.
