Moffat Promises Series 6 Finale Answers
“[It] is probably the maddest Doctor Who story ever. But it answers pretty much all the questions about what we saw in The Impossible Astronaut,” Moffat told Total TV magazine.
“We kind-of know who River Song is, but we don’t, because no one has been asking who her parents were. And the big question is, who is she to the Doctor? She seems to behave like a wife or lover. How is that possible?
“This is where we reveal what it’s all about. So you do get answers to all the questions – except for one, because that’s the way I am.”
Moffat also responded to claims that the show has become too complicated: “Thanks to the ongoing story, some critics have said that viewers are finding it difficult to keep up with this series, but I wish the press would stop assuming that everyone is stupid! This is why our ratings are better than their readership – we think the audience is clever, and the millions of people who tune in show that we’re right.
“I’m particularly pleased with this last run of stories. They’ve all had big, movie-sized ideas, and I can definitely feel myself moving in that direction for next year’s series.”
