Matt Smith Breaks Records
Smith is now officially recognised in the book as the youngest actor to play the Doctor. Smith was just 26 when he began the role, beating fifth Doctor Peter Davison, who was 29.
Doctor Who already holds the record for longest-running science-fiction TV series in the world, now with a whopping 769 episodes to date, made up of 212 storylines and a TV movie.
In addition the show is also the worlds most successful science-fiction series based on broadcast ratings, DVD sales, book sales and iTunes traffic.
The Guinness World Records 2011 is out today in the UK and includes other milestone records such as world’s smallest cow, longest dog tongue and most straws stuffed in mouth (400).
