Last Christmas TV Trailer Breakdown
Doctor: “Come on! It’s Christmas. The North Pole. Who are you going to call?”
Sadly the Ghostbusters are busy being rebooted so the Doctor will have to suffice.
Notice behind Capaldi there are two individuals with dream crabs stuck to their faces who are leaving the TARDIS seemingly without evil intent. Is the Doctor trying to save them from their horrible fate?
Nick Frost’s Santa makes his entrance. Behind him his two elves Wolf and Ian played by Nathan McMullen and Dan Starkey (best known as Strax), respectively. Ian’s weapon of choice is a balloon obviously.
Santa: “What seems to be the problem?”
Just another heartwarming Christmas message brought to you by Steven Moffat!
Interspersed between several quick flashes of clips we see Clara trying to clean the chalkboard, but the text “you are dying” is not scrubing off. In fact the word “dying” repeats suggesting it’s looping. Given the dream theme of the episode we wouldn’t rule out this being some recurring nightmare that Clara is experiencing.
The episode features aliens called the Kantrofarri.
Something is ripping through the base. Could this be Santa’s sleigh crash landing?
It’s not a Doctor Who trailer without an explosion or two, this one hitting the base.
Clara seems very concerned here. No doubt due to all the rumours about whether or not she’s leaving.
In the middle we see Professor Albert in action played by Michael Troughton, the younger son of the Second Doctor himself.
The trailer closes with a concerned Capaldi realising there’s another 12 days to go until the special airs.
And that’s a wrap! If you’ve noticed anything else, let us know in the comments.
