Doctor Who up for Scream 2011 Awards
Doctor Who has been nominated for Best TV Show in the 2011 Scream Awards.
The Scream Awards aims to celebrate the “sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic book genres and the actors, creators, icons and pioneers who have influenced and shaped the industry over the past year.”
Doctor Who faces tough competition from some big US shows including Fringe, Game of Thrones, True Blood and The Walking Dead.
Matt Smith is also up for Best Science Fiction Actor for his role as the 11th Doctor. He’s up against Hollywood stars including Daniel Craig (Cowboys & Aliens), Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger), Harrison Ford (Cowboys & Aliens) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Source Code).
Karen Gillan also receives a Best Science Fiction Actress nomination for her role as Amy Pond. She’s up against Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil: Afterlife), Anna Torv (Fringe) and Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy).
