THE NINTH DOCTOR (Christopher Eccleston) Character Profile: A 900 year old alien from the planet Gallifrey. A Timelord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, and seemingly the last of his kind. The Doctor has the ability to regenerate when close to death. This is his ninth incarnation.
THE TENTH DOCTOR (David Tennant) Character Profile: After absorbing the spacetime vortex energy of the TARDIS in order to save Rose’s life, the Doctor was forced to regenerate into his tenth incarnation.
THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR (Matt Smith) Character Profile: The Doctor sacrifices his own life to save Wilfred Mott. He receives a massive dose of radiation poisoning and regenerates into his eleventh incarnation.
ROSE TYLER (Billie Piper) Character Profile: A 19-year-old shop assistant from 21st century Earth, who was bored with her life and joined The Doctor on his travels. She lived with her mum, Jackie in London on the council estate and was seeing Mickey Smith. Her father was killed a year after she was born in a car accident.
MARTHA JONES (Freema Agyeman) Character Profile: A 23-year-old medical student from Central London. Martha lives with her mum, Francine; her sister, Tish; and her younger brother Leo. Her father, Clive is divorced from Francine. Martha takes the Doctor up on his once in a lifetime opportunity and joins as his companion.
DONNA NOBLE (Catherine Tate) Character Profile: A secretary from Chiswick, London, who initally declined the Doctors invitation to travel with him, a decision she would later regret. Fortunately for her, she would meet him again and join him as companion. Donna lives with her mother, Sylvia and has a close relationship with her grandfather, Wilfred.
AMY POND (Karen Gillan) Character Profile: Amy is a feisty young girl living in a sleepy old village. Looking for adventure, she gets far more than she bargained for when she meets the Doctor. Her world and the entire universe change forever once she steps on board the TARDIS.
CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS (John Barrowman) Episodes: 109-113, 311-313, 412, 413, S04 Character Profile: A former time agent and conman from the 51st century who joins The Doctor and Rose after helping them to save earth. He has lost two years of his memory…
SARAH JANE SMITH (Elizabeth Sladen) Episodes: 203, 411, 412, S04 Character Profile: An Investigative journalist andformer companion of the Doctor. Sarah Jane now lives in Earling, London with her adopted son Luke. Sarah still finds herself caught up in alien affairs even when the Doctor is away.

JACKIE TYLER (Camille Coduri) Episodes: 101, 102, 104, 105, 108, 113, 1X, 201, 205, 206, 210, 212, 213, 413, S04 Character Profile: Rose’s mother. A single parent after losing her husband in a car accident. She doesn’t initally trust The Doctor and is suspicious of his motives towards her daughter. She often finds her life is put in danger when The Doctor is around.
MICKEY SMITH (Noel Clarke) Episodes: 101, 104, 105, 111, 113, 1X, 201, 203, 204, 205, 206, 212, 213, 413, S04 Character Profile: Rose’s on/off boyfriend. He perhaps loves Rose more than she knows. Intially quite cowardly, he proves his resourcefulness and technical knowledge later on, gaining the respect of The Doctor.
WILFRED MOTT (Bernard Cribbins) Episodes: 3X, 401, 404, 405, 411, 412, 413, S03, S04 Character Profile: Donna’s grandfather. An amateur astronomer with a strong belief in alien conspiracies. He and Donna have developed a strong bond after the passing of her father.
SYLVIA NOBLE (Jacqueline King) Episodes: 2X, 401, 404, 405, 411, 412, 413, S03, S04 Character Profile: Donna’s overbearing mother and Wilfreds Daughter. She is widowed and lives with her father.
RORY WILLIAMS (Arthur Darvill) Episodes: 501, 506, 507, 508, 509, 512, 513 Character Profile: Rory Williams is Amy Pond’s boyfriend, a straightforward sort of guy who works as a nurse. He’s known Amy since they were children, when she made him dress up as her legendary ‘raggedy Doctor’. That’s why Rory entered the medical profession.
RIVER SONG (Alex Kingston) Episodes: 408, 409, 504, 505, 512, 513 Character Profile: A mysterious archaeologist from the future who the Doctor keeps meeting in the wrong order. He first meets her on the planet of The Library, where he witnesses her death. River has a journal packed with info the Doctor feels he shouldn’t know about yet. They’re going to be very close: River knows the Doctor’s real name and knows how to fly the TARDIS.
FRANCINE JONES (Adjoa Andoh) Episodes: 301, 306, 307, 312, 313, 412, 413 Character Profile: Mother of Martha,Tish and Leo Jones. She is divorced from her children’s father, Clive Jones.
THE MASTER (John Simm) Episodes: 311, 312, 313, S03, S04 Character Profile: The Doctors arch enemy, also a Timelord from Gallifrey. He was thought to have died in the Timewar, but had actually fled the battle and diguised himself as a human. He later assumes the identity of Harold Saxon, who has become the newly elected Prime Minister of Britain.
PETE TYLER (Shaun Dingwall) Episodes: 108, 205, 206, 213 Character Profile: Rose’s father. A budding entrepreneur but sadly destined to die in a car accident. On parallel Earth, Pete is very much alive, and a rich and successful businessman.
HARRIET JONES (Penelope Wilton) Episodes: 105, 106, 10X, 412 Character Profile: Having helped the Doctor in the past to save earth from an alien invasion, former Flydale North MP Harriet Jones is now British Prime Minister.
TISH JONES (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) Episodes: 301, 306, 312, 313 Character Profile: Sister of Martha and Leo Jones. She is a PA and finds herself working for Doctor Lazarus and Harold Saxon.
LEO JONES (Reggie Yates) Episodes: 301, 306, 312, 313 Character Profile: Younger brother of Martha and Tish Jones.
JAKE SIMMONDS (Andrew Hayden-Smith) Episodes: 205, 206, 213 Character Profile: A freedom fighter from parallel Earth. A member of a resistance group know as the “Preachers”. They fight against Cybus Industries.
ADAM MITCHELL (Bruno Langley) Episodes: 106 & 107 Character Profile: A former researcher. He briefly joined The Doctor but after trying to manipulate time for his own ends, was dumped back home.
