It looks like the move to Sunday did Doctor Who no harm. The second of the Doctor Who specials, The Waters of Mars, was seen by 9.1 million viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The episode had a 33.9% share and was the third most watched programme of the day, behind The X Factor and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

In comparison the first special, Planet Of The Dead, achieved 8.41 million viewers back in Easter.
