I loved the Clockwork Droids, best thing about Girl In The Fireplace to be honest - and, yes, I found them scary - they were emotionless AND because they were robots they could not be swayed against their programming.  Hated the Absorbalof sooo much that I physically cannot watch that story again!

I like the Clockwork Droids but bringing them back is a mistake. There's no mileage there. Steven Moffat would be better off bringing back the Vashta Nerada.

I never really found them that scary in The Girl in the Fireplace. If anything I found them the second least scary monster that series (Isolus was pretty pathetic - it'd draw you to death!). Monsters such as the plague-zombies, the Werewolf, the Krillitanes, the Cybermen, the Wire, the Ood, the Beast etc. were all much scarier in my opinion, and the Clockwork Droids weren't very memorable in my opinion. And I know I am going to get some stick for saying this, but I actually found the Absorbaloff scarier. Not the appearance (although it was disgusting, in more ways than one), but the concept - I really wouldn't want to be absorbed by that, nor would I want to live in a paving slab.

Brilliant the Clockword Droids are coming back, not that bothered about the other guy recently, I was hoping they would have both been more major returns but oh well...

I always thought the clockwork droids were scary and awesome. Would not complain to see them back again. It'll be interesting to see how they are worked into the story if they are indeed returning. The term "droid" is quite a broad term and could mean any kind of robot though.

with a new doctor they will need familiar enemies to ease him in to the viewer, no daleks until 2nd half of series, accompanied by DAVROS, his addition will add enogh of a change to warrent them back. Capaldi vs Davros? YES! (& the sea devils)

I thought they were rather beautifully done in the Girl in the Fireplace. To look at I mean.  Although I don't find them scary , the colours, costumes are so lovely to be scary. Or they may completely change for this new episode.

The First episode will be like the snowmen I'm gathering, GREAT, If this Eposide Has The 12th Doctor investigate an Alien Jack the Ripper and his clockwork droids with the help of the gang and inspector Gregson it will be an amazing episode. But how would an alien Jack the Ripper take over the world with some clockwork droids. Also were would he get the droids, are they left in storage in Paris from the1700s after there first encounter. Man can dream

The leaked/fake episode synopsis mentioned both clockwork droids, and Jack the Ripper.... I'm starting to think it may be true

Inspector Gregson looks like a good character, I like to see how he reacts to the Doctor.

I think they're different robots. Nothing  more nothing less

I don't think they're coming back, and i hope they don't, it would kinda ruin the ''uniqueness'' of that fantastic episode...

Think like the roboforms, slightly different design but same concept but a bigger villain turning the cogs.

I like Inspector Gregson, but I hope there's no Droids. Why can't we have a monster that makes one good appearance and leave it at that?!

I'm thinking  inspector gregson will be the lestrade to vastra's holmes and jennys watson

The droids were just basic servants, so they may be working for the actual villain.

OH I'd love to see those Clockworks droids come back!! Of course, I'm wondering how they will look like (restaurant droid?) Just hoping they'll look as beautiful and scary  as they were in the girl in the fireplace, only in victorian "mode"

I'm not really sure if anything more can be done with the Clockwork Droids to be honest, but then again I didn't find them particularly interesting before either.

I like the idea of them being like the organ reapers of the universe. Organ Reaper sounds so cool (to me anyway…)

I hope he doesn't turn out to be a Dalek Puppet, because if I'm honest, I find them pretty naff.

Maybe they'll be helpful this time.

Good monsters but unsure of a return. If how they get destroyed is similar to their previous appearance then that would be boring and repetitive. But we'll see..

Droid doesn't necessarily mean clockwork droid, although I would love that to happen.

I don't see why people find it funny that these are returning. Surely, during the 51st century, this type of droid would be all over the galaxy, helping humans, not only on the SS Madame de Pompadour.

Will be nice to see them in Victorian attire.

LifeOfDuty

They were good in their episodes but unsure of what more you can do with them to make them interesting without them being defeated the same way they did in their first episode.

Although I don't think they could possibly top The Girl In The Fireplace, as long as it's written and executed well, I wouldn't be against the Clockwork Droids returning. "Resturant Droid" doesn't really indicate to me that they are returning, though - there's a very wide parameter of what the word "droid" can refer to in sci-fi.

Moffat really loves expanding the paternoster gang story arc doesn't he? Just make a bloody spin off already steve XD

The Finn

I'm not that sure it's those Droids that are coming back, although I have nothing against it. As fir the returning character, it sounds like a good idea, seeing as the episode is set in the Victorian era.

"Resteraunt Droid"..."food for thought"... Oh, you!

Certainly interesting to see how the Clockwork Droids could be expanded upon much in the same way for Inspector Gregson.

Combined with TTOTD having Weeping Angels, the crack, the silence, Silence Will Fall, and now this in Series 8 it feels a bit like Moffat's recently been going "Look, I made this! This is cool! I made it!"

Seems a bit tenuous to me, not really sure where you got that idea from.

@Moxx I liked the idea of the Dalek Puppets but it always looks a bit silly when the dalek gun comes out of their hands.

I kinda like the dalek puppet concept very much but I'm sick of the daleks I I mean I'm actually one of the people who liked day and time of the doctor but they should give em a break.

I think they're kinda like moffats version of RTD family unit. But I guess a spin off would be a good way to keep them around for the people who like them (like me) and keep them from coming into the show frequently for those who don't like them.

"Combined with TTOTD having ... the crack, the silence, Silence Will Fall"

-Um, that's not Moffat saying, "Look, I made this!" That's him wrapping up his story arc for Eleven. Plus, the episode had a ton of aliens that he didn't make up. The Weeping Angels just happened to be among them for variety's sake.

Moxx
Moxx

I find the Daleks terrific! The Puppets were a nice touch in Asylum, but the idea had grown quite banal by The Time of the Doctor.

SonicTheHedgehogRules
SonicTheHedgehogRules

I would't exactly say that the Weeping Angels were there for variety's sake. I'd say they were there to cash in on their popularity, and essentially only there for fan service. Hated their appearance, it was so unnecessary.

They made new Zygon and Ice Warrior designs. The wisest thing to do is use them before they fall apart.

They brought captain jack back they can bring handles back :-). It could be after Clara leaves the doctor. Though to be honest I was half joking about it.
