the sheriff has a look of the master about him, with that rubbish beard
My call is that the mythical characters turn out to be real.
The archer within me is very mad at these clips (that is not how you fire/hold/HANDLE a bow & arrow) but whatever - the new clip looks really cool :D
"I'm the Doctor and this is my spoon" needs to be in t-shirts.
Methinks the Sheriff is the titular robot.
The costumes look so unrealistic and so fancy dress, which is unlike Doctor Who. Hope there is a reason for this
Is it bad that I am only looking foreword to this episode for the next time trailer?
I cant help but predict that Robin Hood won't be real at all, that he's a created enitity based on lore.
Look at the outfit and his demeanor. No offense to the production staff if I'm wrong but it's like someone just took it straight from storybooks.
I remember there were a few situations in film or TV where something was fabricated only by popular association to be purposely familiar. And using that to deceive. Please people help me out here with some examples?
After seeing these clips, I am officially excited!!!
I've got the feeling I might rewatch this episode a hundred times just to look at Jenna's amazing dress.
The sheriff would have never made that shot. His bow wasn't full drawn and he was holding it awkwardly.
The second clip reminds me so much of the the Doctor Who book "The Coming Of The Terraphilas" because the prize was the golden arrow.
The second clip kind of gives me the same feeling as the first one. The episode looks like its going to have fun moments and overall be "okay", but I doubt its going to be amazing. That's fine though, there's plenty more episodes to go.
The spoon is back :D
I watched Disney's Robin Hood film yesterday as preparation. I can't help but feel Gatiss did too. Which is only a good thing ;)
I wonder what pseudo historical person the Doctor will meet next?
@PaulWebb That reference, although I liked the beard
@pinkjaguar12 I have to agree with you. I have to surmise that they decided to do "stage" archery and not spend the money to give the actors actual archery training.
Everything any of the Doctors say ends up on a t-shirt, it seems.
@Big_Bird96 unrealistic? It's Doctor Who what do you expect?
@social_crime The Pandorica Opens/The big bang, everything taken from Amy's Roman book, and Pandoras box book as well as other things?
@social_crime They were aiming for a 1930s film rather than a storybook, but yes you are right.
@The Outer Space K9 me too! isn't i an amazing dress? i love it! and red really suits her too
@bl0ndie98 I would agree, but maybe he's a robot.
@Antee991166 I think the opposite; I enjoyed both clips immensely and know I'm really going to enjoy the episode.
Oooooh, just realised! Mark Gatiss is doing an AMA (ask me anything) on reddit. Its been on for about an hour, but he might still answer questions!
@The Administrator I never watched it. Is it any good?
@The Administrator I wonder if the episode will have a King John sucking his thumb scene? :P
@ Notsosmartguy If you're talking about Series 9, I'd vote for Marcus Aurelius. (Well, he *is* one of Clara's heroes.) Also wouldn't hurt for him to have a Paternoster adventure with Conan Doyle (played by Martin Freeman, perhaps?). Or The Three Musketeers, along with Cyrano de Bergerac.
@ Notsosmartguy I was going to say King Arthur, but he's already met him in the Classic Series. Still, he could always meet him again, couldn't he?
@ Notsosmartguy Jane Austen, probably :P
@ Notsosmartguy King Minos?
@BenIsacremeeggRhodes @social_crime You mean familiar to the Doctor right? I meant familiar to the general population but yes good call! :D
@The_Eternal_Dalek @social_crime Ahh yeah, sorry maybe I was thinking Peter Pan. But yeah something is fishy. Too convenient to be true.
Come on Saturday!!
Oh and another example I was almost going to say was the Star Trek film where they thought they had found God, and the being even tried to look like a man with a white beard. But I forget that the entity-thing-whatever said he was doing the look for Kirk's benefit.
@BeyondThePolice @Antee991166 I think I would get more out of this episode if I was a fan of the Robin Hood mythos.
@ Notsosmartguy @The Administrator It's amazing; the animation is spectacular, especially for when it was made. I remember watching it countless times when I was younger and then enjoying it just as much now that I'm older.
@ Notsosmartguy @The Administrator The best Disney film ever
@ Notsosmartguy @The Administrator Yes. It's a great film. It's not remembered as one of Disney's best... but it's great fun nonetheless.
@The Finn @The Administrator And maybe a Silurian as Sir Hiss? ;)
@The Finn @The Administrator "MUMMY!!!" *sucks thumb*
@Calebxy @ Notsosmartguy Well, in the Seventh Doctor story Battlefield he doesn't actually meet Arthur.
@Calebxy @ Notsosmartguy He did, as that particular story establishes a future Doctor will meet him. The Doctor's Wife was going to establish that it was the Eleventh Doctor, but the first bit of the conversation got cut (you can see the remainder where he talks about reattaching King Arthur's head, and Amy Pond confirming it was true.
There's nothing stopping another meeting.
@Calebxy @ Notsosmartguy yea I don't see why not?
@supermoff of Sherwood @ Notsosmartguy Jane Austen's not pseudo-historical, though.
@The Finn @ Notsosmartguy that's a great suggestion.
@ Notsosmartguy @BeyondThePolice @Antee991166 You have 24 hours :P Get researching and watching :D
@The Administrator @The Finn Oh the memories... XD
@The Finn @supermoff of Sherwood @ Notsosmartguy Oops, misread it. :S
@The Finn @The Administrator "You've hissed your last Hiss!"
@The Administrator @The Finn I wonder if the finale of the episode will be as epic as in the film, with a burning castle and escape via rope?
@The Finn @The Administrator Come one Gatiss! Deliver!
@The Administrator @The Finn Mustn't get hope up...mustn't get hopes up....
