Bernard-Horsfall-gothDoctor Who TV is saddened to report that Bernard Horsfall has passed away.

Horsfall was probably best known to Whovians for his role as Time Lord Chancellor Goth in the classic era of Doctor Who (pictured in 1976’s The Deadly Assassin).

The actor actually played more than one character during the classic run. He first appeared alongside 2nd Doctor Patrick Troughton in 1968 story The Mind Robber as Lemuel Gulliver. He also played a Time Lord in 1969’s The War Games and Taron in 1973’s Planet of the Daleks.

Nicholas Pegg tweeted “Raising a glass to Bernard Horsfall: a fine actor, an imposing Time Lord, a wonderful Player King in the 1984 RSC Hamlet, and a super chap.”

Horsfall died at the age of 82.
