Looks great, although it's a shame Phil Ford still hasn't got the chance to write something on his own.

I just realized, in that first scene when the Doctor explains where he's been, Peter Capaldi is channeling Tom Baker.

I think someone else should do the Dalek voices now.

First time I actually prefer the BBC America Trailer. It's just they basically change the order of the scenes but it's much more epic.

It seems that they're trying to keep the whole 'Into The Dalek' thing a surprise which is odd considering that it's the title of the episode.

Will the Daleks actually exterminate anyone this time?

The last appearance of the Daleks in Asylum was excellent, so really looking forward to this episode. Obviously not just for that reason though, we have a new 'untested' Doctor on our hands. so it'll be intriguing to see how he reacts against his greatest enemies. With Deep Breath setting us up nicely - I though it was good episode (8/10) - I`m excited about seeing the 12th Doctor in action again. I asked for a darker Doctor, and it appears we're getting one.

Maybe this time I'll finally manage to be scared by the Daleks. I know this is the quintessence of the Whoniverse, but you can't force your own emotions. Even though my brain says "They're supposed to be very scary", deep down I just can't see them as such. Therefore, I have high hopes for this episode! :)

Man this is gonna be a fun one :-) it'll be interesting to see the Doctor's plan for this defective dalek. I really wasn't interested in seeing the daleks again so early in Peter's run but since Moffat's co writing I assume this is part of whatever story arc he's planning.

I hope the Daleks are a real threat in this episode. Series 1 Episode 6 'Dalek' proved that only one Dalek alone was a huge threat. It killed without mercy or hesitation (except when Rose's DNA started to alter its own DNA). Although the Series 3 two-parter 'Daleks in Manhattan / Evolution of the Daleks' is a divisive story, the Daleks proved they had no mercy when they shot Solomon on the spot. We need them to be an unstoppable force again and for the Doctor to only barely defeat them - without resorting to a deus ex machina.

I have high hopes for this episode, mostly because Phil Ford said "What's the point of doing a Dalek story where the Daleks don't do Dalek s***" and "I wanted a good old Dalek showdown!". If Ford can deliver on this, then I think there is a very real chance that the Daleks can return in glory!

Peter Capaldi + Jenna Coleman + Phil Ford + Steven Moffat. How can you get so many amazing names working on one single script?

Is it me or does the woman in the first trailer sound like she's screaming 'HARRY POTTER!'? It's probably just me...

The exciting thing is that the Daleks actually seem pretty menacing in that trailer :-)

If they are going for a classic vibe, it will be very interesting to see what Ford & Moffat have conjured up.

@bondbug1973 Oh, I don't know. Thanks to Big Finish, I'm a HUGE fan of Nick Briggs' work, and I've always loved his voice work as the Daleks, and I'd personally like him to stay on as them, he's really brilliant at it.

@FanSince1970 I hope they kill someone. No one has been exterminated since those two marines in VOTD

@supermoff   We're actually going inside a Dalek! The most evil thing in the whole entire universe? What could possibly go wrong :)!

@VERITASERUMUK Russell T Davies wrote them brilliantly. I was actually scared from the Dalek in the first series. Ever since he left, though, it just hasn't been the same. But

Phil Ford is the one who wrote "The Waters of Mars", the most terrifying story of DW up to date in my opinion, so maybe he'll manage to make them seem dangerous again. I've got my fingers crossed.

Am I the only one who was terrified of the clockwork droids in Girl in the Fireplace? screw weeping angels, those are the things that gave me nightmares!

@ Notsosmartguy the dalek of Jersey @Sneezed Regeneration  In fairness, I grew up with the programme from 2005 from the age of 8 and I've virtually never been scared of the show. I did think the Daleks looked incredibly cool and found the Weeping Angels to be menacing, but they never made me cower behind the sofa. However Silence in the Library, Forest of the Dead and Midnight all absolutely petrified me and still make me uncomfortable. That was a fun three weeks...

I know people who grew up with them in the 60s and 70s that are fine with them on tv, but when faced with life size ones (especially with operators inside) they do tend to go a little pale...

Absolutely nothing. I've read the script and they just have a good ol' chat, share some anecdotes, and then the Dalek joins the TARDIS crew. I think it's the first episode yet where there's absolutely no danger or threat at all. I, for one, welcome this new direction.

@Antee991166 @ Notsosmartguy the dalek of Jersey @Sneezed Regeneration Fears are a very personal fact. What scares me may not scare you, for example. Probably there's something particulary scary in Silence in the Library and Midnight. A friend of mine, e.g., has a particular kind of phobia: she's afraid of what looks human but behaves unnaturally to such a point that you feel uncomfortable. Some scenes such as the spider walk in The Exorcist or the many odd suicides in The Happening immediately made her terrorized. I've got a similar kind of fear myself.  I'm not afraid of  vampires or zombies, but the possible presence of ghosts makes my spine shiver. Some people (such as our beloved Sarah Jane) was mostly afraid of clowns, and sometimes I also feel unconfortable with them. Fear is relative.

TheIdleIdol
TheIdleIdol

I still didn't find that as bad as "WOULD YOU LIKE SOME TEEEEAAAA?". I get that they were operating under a cover story, but it's hard to take a race of insane, genocidal war machines seriously when they're repeatedly offering to fetch you warm beverages. At least in Asylum, the actual words (IIRC) were "You WILL save us" - which is (though still divisive) a lot more Dalek than simply "help, help!"

Timhogan
Timhogan

@TheIdleIdol Still, at least those Daleks weren't real Daleks.  I mean even their own objects wouldn't recognize them as Daleks anymore, they were so watered down by all the spare parts they had to build each other off of so it made sense they were acting a little human in being undercover.  The entire parliament of Daleks begging the Doctor to save them is just horrible.  I just never understood why they couldn't go down.  Nano field won't turn a Dalek into a Dalek, that'd be redundant.  Then even if they were insane, not very likely they are going to attack another Dalek seeing as they were surrounded by other Daleks.  The entire storyline of the Daleks needing the Doctor to go down because they were afraid was just a disgrace to everything that is Dalek.
