Happy Birthday, Peter Davison!

peter-davison-5th

Peter Davison was born 13 April 1951 and today celebrates his 63rd birthday.

Davison of course succeeded Tom Baker when the fourth Doctor regenerated into his fifth incarnation in 1981. He played our favourite Time Lord on screen until 1984 before reprising his role in charity special Time Crash in 2007.

Happy birthday Peter! Have a stick of celery on us!

Happy Birthday Peter.

And it's weird that the Five Favourites haven't popped up yet.

Congratulations Peter. Have a wonderful 63rd birthday with your family and friends and thank you so much for the Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, definitely a highlight of the 50th celebrations and a delightful film!

Happy Birthday Peter, I have visions of David Tennant reading this, exclaiming "****" and realising he'd forgotten his father-in-law's birthday :-)

Ahh... the brilliant man who introduced me to the wonderful world of Classic-Who, and instantly became one of my favourite Doctors. Happy birthday, Peter! May it be a great one!

A great Doctor (although at the time It took a while for me to get over the fact Tom Baker wasn't the Doctor anymore) and a thoroughly nice chap. Anyone that's met him at conventions will find the autograph scene in The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot very very funny...

(And he made a great King Arthur in Spamalot!)

Yesterday, my grandma finished my 5th Doctor jacket and it looks brilliant. Just like original.

Happy Birthday. I'm the same age as David Tennant so Peter Davison was my Doctor too. The Fifth is the only one of the classics that I have every DVD of (with only three stories to go from owning all of the Fourth).

"Happy birthday Peter! Have a stick of celery on us!"

Not sure how much he'd appreciate that, since he hates celery in real life. :P

It's unfortunate he had to play the Doctor when he did (same with Colin Baker) because ratings were going down and people just didn't like Doctor Who anymore. His performance was as good as anyone's and if the ratings were down, it Davison's fault, it was the fault of the script writers, or directors, or someone. He brought a new softer take on the Doctor. Happy birthday Peter Davison it was sad to see you leave.

Strange when you can remember what your wrote here last year. Peter Davison is my favorite Classic Doctor. His youthfulness was a fresh breath for Doctor Who and proved to be successful in recapturing the magic of Doctor Who.

Davison's era is easily my favourite classic era. I've always felt that it doesn't get the credit it deserves though. I suppose the main issue with it is that, for every mind blowingly brilliant story that it had, there was also a fairly dull story, and it seems to be the dull ones with the poor special effects that are usually associated with his era. Happy birthday Mr. Davison.

Happy Birthday to quite possibly my favorite Classic Who Doctor!

Happy birthday to one of my four favorite Doctors (the others being Hartnell, Pertwee, and McGann). Wish Moffat would bring him back (if Davison is willing and available). I mean they're friends and Moffat's quite fond of his Doctor. I'm sure it'd be a good story.

Happy Birthday! One of my favourite Doctors and the star of many great stories. My favourite stories would be The Visitation, Earthshock, Mawdryn Undead, Enlightenment, Resurrection of the Daleks and Caves of Androzani.

@DoctorRed  I know right, I watched the special features on a Castrovalva DVD, and he spat it out after a shot of him eating it.

@Deus_Ex_MachinaTo be fair, the special effects weren't actually poor ....

... they were merely 'of the time'.

Compared to today's standards they aren't great, but the quality of the stories carried the weaker effects.
