Wibbly wobbly! This post was accidentally scheduled a day early for some readers. Apologies for the confusion!

Today, the man behind the Master celebrates his 43rd birthday.

Simm took on the villainous role back in 2007 when Derek Jacobi memorably regenerated in the episode Utopia, leading to one of the best cliffhangers in Doctor Who history.

The last time we saw Simm’s Master was in Tennant’s swansong, The End of Time. Simm previously denied any involvement with the 50th, but there’s still the Christmas special to film, so you never know.

Happy birthday, John!

Birthday wishes also go out to Jackie Lane today who played classic era companion Dodo Chaplet in 1966.

It was previously announced that Sophie Holt will portray Lane in the 50th anniversary docudrama, An Adventure in Space and Time.
