47 years ago today, the BBC introduced us to the incredible world of Doctor Who. The show starred William Hartnell as the Doctor, an old man with a police box called the TARDIS that could travel through time and space.

The adventure began with a four part story called An Unearthly Child. The Doctor was joined by his granddaughter Susan Foreman (Carole Ann Ford) and schoolteachers Barbara Wright (Jacqueline Hill) and Ian Chesterton (William Russell).

The evolution of the intro over 47 years…

Who would have thought that the show would still be running to this day? Not only that, but Doctor Who is bigger than ever and long may it continue. Happy Birthday Doctor Who!
