Last week, some of you may have read news reports elsewhere claiming that Matt Smith was leaving Doctor Who.

The story originated in The Sun where they said Smith was quitting after the sixth series to pursue a Hollywood career. This was all based off an apparent comment from one of his “pals”.

The source was very dubious, to put it mildly. Never-the-less Karen Gillan has responded to the rumours.

Gillan told the Telegraph in simple terms, “Matt will be sticking around. I think those rumours were made up.”

Earlier reports suggested that Smith has signed a minimum three-year contract with the BBC. Smith also told Doctor Who Magazine in February, ‘I’ll hit 30 in 2012, and that’s an important stage of growing up, and how brilliant to do that as Matt Smith, but also as Matt Smith playing the Doctor.”
