Doctor Who is going head-to-head with Sherlock once again.

Both Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch have been nominated for Best Actor in the BAFTA Television Awards. Matt is also up against Jim Broadbent (Any Human Heart) and Daniel Rigby (Eric and Ernie).

Unfortunately, Doctor Who did not make the Best Drama Series category this year. Instead Being Human, Misfits, Downton Abbey and Sherlock will battle it out.

The winners will be announced on Sunday 22 May 2011 on BBC1.

Meanwhile, three stories from Series 5 have been nominated for a Hugo for “Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form”. They are; A Christmas Carol; The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang; and Vincent and the Doctor.

Good luck to Matt Smith and the Doctor Who team!
