I think Child's Play will focus a little more on Danny Pink.

For people saying that some writers aren't right for Doctor Who is wrong. They may be bad in your opinion but does to mean their bad overall. Your series favourite could turn out to be the won you thought you would hate.

Episode 8 is most likely what the Season 5 Xmas Special was teased to be about in the finale, remember when at the very end of TBB he got a phonecall " An Egyptian goddess loose on the Orient Express. In space." And "catching up on his phonecalls".... Seems like an awesome episode I hope I'm right ^^

Just realised how the Keeper of the Nethersphere's dress looks strangely simular to Matt's Doctors last one . . .

Imagine if everyone thought that 'Children of Earth' was going to be bad because there was a focus on children and a large amount of child actors - Don't judge episode 10 until you've seen it and FCB is great.

Does Doctor Who really need to be darker?

The Doctor has just saved his own people from extinction and put an end to hundreds of years of regret and hatred. He should be happy, surely. He shouldn't be bad, or dark. We've had a very dark series 7 (especially The Name Of The Doctor). I know the show needs to get serious, but, THIS serious, I don't think so.

Anyone agree??????

I'm looking forward to this series alot of interesting stories overall, some episodes I am looking forward to are 1,2,4,5,9,11 and 12. The series finale I think will be the end to Clara's story abit like Adric's. My concern is episode 10 mainly because there are kids in it, so there will be annoying characters and alot of screaming and shouting.

I'm a bit worried that  episodes 1,3 and  6 all have robot villains, especially when with episode 2 being about daleks capaldis not gonna face a non artifcial villain for his first 3 weeks

I'm looking forward to all of the episodes. The ones I'm most looking for are  5, 6, 9, 11, 12. The reason I'm excited for episode 5 is because it's by Stephen Thompson. I know most of you don't like his episodes but I do. They are some of my favorites. Plus, he wrote the best Sherlock episode in my opinion. I'm looking forward to episode 6 because the monster looks pretty awesome. I wasn't that excited for episode 9 until I heard that its really scary and really good. I usually like finales so episodes 11 & 12 sound good. That's my opinion.

So we have received official names for the bird-like robots now? Scovox? Also, I assume the title "The Teller" was officially announced, not taken from the leaked scripts... When was this information given out? One of the recent magazines?

I'm looking forward to episodes 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12. All the Moffat ones will be good, especially since it's Capaldi's first season. Looking back at series 5, Moffat was at the height of his game and I'm hoping that he will bring that effort back for this run. As for 5, I think that Thompson will do a good job, despite his previous failures, his work on Sherlock is amazing. 6 is a no brainer because it's Gareth Roberts and I really missed not having him onboard for Series 7. Episode 7 looks cool and I always love it when the show goes back and looks at it's heritage and history. We know so little about episode 10 and seeing how FCB has never written for Who before I am very excited about what he can add to the show.

As for the others... Episode 2 has Daleks. That's pretty much it. No big deal. We've had too many Daleks and it's time we gave them a five year break. Episode 3 seems to be exactly what it says on the tin and that's to be expected from a Gatiss piece. It's hard to judge episode 8 but I just don't feel that excited about it. Episode 9 doesn't look that interesting, it's something I'm sure we've all thought of so seeing it appear on the show isn't going to be as cool as Moffat might think it will be.

Has anyone realised that with episode 8 it is listed as "catching up on his phone calls," and the rumoured title "mummy on the orient express" that it sounds a lot like the unseen adventure at the end of the Series 5 finale. Remember when Amy and Rory entered the TARDIS just before the Doctor was about to leave he gets a phone call  and then says "an Egyptian queen loose on the orient express." Maybe that is what he is talking about. Rewatch it and you'll see what I mean.

Why is everyone worried about episode 10!? We hardly know anything about it! I think it looks amazing!

Leave Thompson alone. Seriously, there's no need for such a bashing. Even Robert Holmes wrote "The Krotons" and "The Space Pirates" the most yawn-inducing stories of the Second Doctor (I'm not exaggerating - they're awful!). He ended up writing half the best episodes in the history of the show (Spearhead from space, Terror of the Autons, The Ark In Space, Pyramids of Mars, Brain of Morbius, Deadly Assassin or The Talons of Weng Chiang) Steven Moffat wrote TDTW&TW. Mark Gatiss wrote VOTD. RTD wrote Love&Monsters. Neil Geiman wrote Nightmare in Silver. Even the most talented writers write some **** sometimes.

@SI87 If you watch the trailers and read the news released before series 1 and series 5 it  a. doesn't look that good, and b. doesn't tell you much about what the new series is going to be like.

@ Notsosmartguy is superior again!!!!!!!!! I like the sound of it, but it all depends on the quality of the child actors. Most of the time, the child actors are great in the show, but there are instances where they are not *cough* Angie and Artie *cough*. But anyway, I think it'll be quite sweet and very Doctor Who :)

@Benjamin Bradley Love the way fans are deciding already what episodes are going to be good, bad or mediocre. How about waiting until the episodes are shown and making up your mind then. If you approach it with this attitude, it will ruin the series for you before it has even begun.

@Euge135 This appears to be the general idea from what Moffat has said in interviews - it thought it funny that the Doctor would take years to finally answer an SOS and then arrive in a totally new body!

@Euge135 Im pretty sure that was to do with Dinosaurs on A Spaceship

I remember that phone call - and I thought it was just a throw-away, with the Doctor getting out of the Ponds' way on their wedding night.

Wow. Love a long call-back. : )

@Euge135 Yeah. Exactly. When I first heard that episode description, I was annoyed that they were just recycling ideas, but then it occurred to me: we don't actually SEE 11, amy, and rory go off on this adventure, maybe they never got around to it, and so he's just now doing something about that phone call. I suppose that's the advantage of time travel, you can catch up on your errands 1200 years after you meant to and still get there in plenty of time!

@Scootersfood It seems Whovians are weird about kids sometimes. I have this gut feeling this is gonna be one of those episodes that almost everyone but me hates (a la "Nightmare in Silver").

NineTenElevenTwelve
NineTenElevenTwelve

@Scootersfood I know, right?! It seems that everyone's panicking about it just because it has a bunch of child actors. This is just as stupid as when everybody freaked out about Angie and Artie at the end of "The Crimson Horror". They were calling their actors terrible based on practically no evidence whatsoever. Now, I'm not going to say that they were all that fantastic in "Nightmare in Silver" but I still found it completely asinine to judge them so harshly when their appearances thus far included BRIEF appearances in "The Bells of Saint John" and "The Crimson Horror". That was the equivalent of a scenario in which everybody negatively judged John Hurt's War Doctor based on his appearances in "The Name of the Doctor" and "The Night of the Doctor" (which, thankfully, did not happen).

@SephoraNeedSeries8  But both of Thompson's episodes are bad, a writer can have occasional failures, but having not written a single good episode I don't think he should write for the show. This isn't just my opinion: Curse of the Black Spot was ranked 227th and Journey was ranked 201st, showing that the fandom is not a fan of his writing. I don't even think his writing on Sherlock is at the same quality of Moffat or Gatiss.

Euge135
Euge135

No. I promise you that scene was there. Just go back and check and you'll see what I mean. "She was sealed into the seventh obelisk, I was at the prayer meeting," says the Doctor "Well I know, I get that it's important. An Egyptian goddess loose on the Orient Express... In space"

TheDreamer
TheDreamer

I'm in the minority but I can't think of any child actor I disliked so far... I loved Amelia, Merry, Barnable and the kid from Curse of the Black Spot (Toby? Name's eluding me), I liked George, young Kazran and Artie and Angie... and the kids from the Snowmen did well enough too imo.

@troughton who? @SephoraNeedSeries8 Slightly ? That's what I call an understatement :D Honestly I don't know what the script is worth but I found the production and the guess cast so awful... I just hated it. Couldn't believe this was a story written by Holmes

SephoraNeedSeries8
SephoraNeedSeries8

@Antee991166 @SephoraNeedSeries8 The fandom don't like them but the casual viewers do. His episodes got an AI score of 85 and 86 if I remember correctly. Again: Doctor Who is for families, not for geeks. And if you think JTTCOTT was bad, you need to watch The Krotons. Bad is relative. Holmes wrote only bad stories until he wrote spearhead from space. You didn't read the script, don't judge it as bad before you've watched it. And I don't know what's wrong with his work on Sherlock. The man wrote the Reichenbach fall!

@SephoraNeedSeries8 @Antee991166 I agree Journey was one of my favorites last season, I thought it was cool that Clara got to figure out some answers, but the audience was not allowed to know and the audience got to learn things that the rest of them forgot. the episode made me angry and happy at the same time, because the 3 boys forgot everything but the one in charge at least was slightly nicer. overall i would have given it a solid 8.5/10.

Antee991166
Antee991166

@SephoraNeedSeries8 @Antee991166  I have watched The Krotons and while it isn't that good, I still prefer it over Journey. If Thompson can write a good story this year, then I won't have a major problem with him returning to the programme, but I'm not optimistic. On Sherlock he wrote "The Blind Banker" which is the only episode of Sherlock that I dislike, but the Reichenbach Fall was solid.

TheDreamer
TheDreamer

@Scootersfood @TheDreamer Oooh yeah, Hungry Earth isn't an episode I pop in the drive very often but I did like Elliot too. :) How could I forget Elliot?!
