Colin Baker on Five(ish) Doctors Sequel

fiveish doctorsSixth Doctor Colin Baker has given an update on the status of the proposed sequel to The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.

Baker told Flicks and the City: “All I know is when I last spoke to Peter [Davison] the reaction to Five-ish Doctors has been so positive that we discussed whether it was a good idea to do another one and we agreed that we didn’t want to do one that was a pale imitation of the first. That would be anti-climatic.”

He adds: “We have to come up with a really good idea first. There’s a couple of possibilities floating around, but nothing is set in stone.”

“Clearly doing one about the 51st anniversary isn’t going to be interesting. It’s got to be about something else.”

Step back in time...

I was hoping they'd make into a proper BBC Two sitcom or something

Please do this! They were hilarious especially when Colin locked people in the house and forced them to watch Vengence on Varos!

A sequel? Genius! Dear Colin - please ask Peter to call me, I've got the PERFECT idea for a sequel and you won't all have to wait until the 60th anniversary either!  Oh and give Matt, Dave, Paul and Chris a ring too - they will need to be on standby.  I'm off to write the script, ciao for now.

He is absolutely correct, It has to be a great idea. I hope they think of something, They're first attempt was a 50th highlight. RTD was particularly hilarious :)

If they come up with a good idea, then I would watch it. The first one was really good.

It would be awesome if they made another one! I adore these classic who actors, and to see them mess around is always great fun.

I loved the Five(ish) Doctors Reboot so if they get a good story I'd be happy to watch it!

How about them, Terrance Dicks, Russell T Davis, ect. write another 50th and try to give it to Stevan Moffat. And at the end he excepts and a couple of months later they make it and relieve the whole thing on DVD!

In other news, a lot of rumors are emerging about more missing episodes.

I love the first one so much, probably one of the highlights to me about the anniversary. Nice to see loads of old faces included!!! :)

Totally agree with "the other Baker". A sequel must never be an imitation of the first instalment. That's why I think it would be a bad idea if the sequel was about them getting into series 8.

As much as I really want a sequel, I've got to agree that there has to be a quality idea before one is made. Like anything really, I'd rather wait and get a sequel that's amazing than have it be rushed and poor quality.

Wise words indeed, it is very much possible to have too much of a good thing!

And ultimately, while it may not feel like it at the time, anticipation can often be half the fun with these things...

I'm surprised Colin is even interested in the idea of fan service, I saw him at a local comic-con and he was rude and ignorant to pretty much everyone there.

@BenMilner_ Must be a bad day because the Colin Baker I've met was the sweetest and nicest actor I've met at a con. I also took a picture with him, he was almost bouncing around, happy to be there :)

All I ever hear about Colin Baker, when fans have met him, is that he was one of the warmest, kindest people they'd ever met - and how he loves the show and the fandom. So I'm quite shocked to see him described this way o__O

@BenMilner_ You must have caught him on a bad day and/or at a bad moment. I've met and talked person to person with Colin at about five conventions over the years, and he has always been pleasant, approachable, and charming. Last year he even consented to get on the phone and send along well wishes to a friend who couldn't attend a particular con due to his state of health. He's a class act in my book.

@BenMilner_ That sounds like a big rare moment. He's been dedicated to the show a lot. He even promoted it after he got fired because he liked it so much. And going by videos he's very nice to the fans.

@BenMilner_ Huh? He always does so much for the fans, he's one of the most active and enthusiastic actors who have ever played the Doctor. Maybe you just caught him on a bad day.

@TardisBoy  I always hear that too so I'd love to meet him. Mind you, I'm happy enough that I'll probably be meeting Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Sophie Aldred and Eve Myles at the Sheffield Film and Comic Con. Hope they're not having a bad day when I go.

Yep...met him many times and always a pleasure to chat with.

More Troughton please! He's my favourite Doctor from the Classic series.

@MetamorphmagusWho @TardisBoy Colin is approachable and instantly puts you at ease. He may throw some "Sixie" (as he calls his Sixth Doctor) at you in jest, but it's all tongue in cheek. He's kind, friendly, gracious, and attentive. He really engages with the fans I've seen him meet, including myself.

Malohkeh

@supermoff  @Malohkeh I'm hoping for Power (or just about any Troughton serial in general), Marco Polo, or The Myth Makers.

MetamorphmagusWho

@supermoff  @Malohkeh  I would love it to be true, I wouldn't mind which episode had been found, any would do. Keep in my though that this is a tabloid newspaper.
