Character Profile: A 900 year old alien from the planet Gallifrey. A Timelord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, and seemingly the last of his kind. The Doctor has the ability to regenerate when close to death. This is his ninth incarnation.

Character Profile: After absorbing the spacetime vortex energy of the TARDIS in order to save Rose's life, the Doctor was forced to regenerate into his tenth incarnation.

ROSE TYLER (Billie Piper)
Character Profile: A 19-year-old shop assistant from 21st century Earth, who was bored with her life and joined The Doctor on his travels. She lived with her mum, Jackie in London on the council estate and was seeing Mickey Smith. Her father was killed a year after she was born in a car accident.

MARTHA JONES (Freema Agyeman)
Character Profile: A 23-year-old medical student from Central London. Martha lives with her mum, Francine; her sister, Tish; and her younger brother Leo. Her father, Clive is divorced from Francine. Martha takes the Doctor up on his once in a lifetime opportunity and joins as his companion.

DONNA NOBLE (Catherine Tate)
Character Profile: A secretary from Chiswick, London, who initally declined the Doctors invitation to travel with him, a decision she would later regret. Fortunately for her, she would meet him again and join him as companion. Donna lives with her mother, Sylvia and has a close relationship with her grandfather, Wilfred.

Character Profile: An Investigative journalist andformer companion of the Doctor. Sarah Jane now lives in Earling, London with her adopted son Luke. Sarah still finds herself caught up in alien affairs even when the Doctor is away.

Character Profile: Rose's mother. A single parent after losing her husband in a car accident. She doesn't initally trust The Doctor and is suspicious of his motives towards her daughter. She often finds her life is put in danger when The Doctor is around.

Character Profile: Rose's on/off boyfriend. He perhaps loves Rose more than she knows. Intially quite cowardly, he proves his resourcefulness and technical knowledge later on, gaining the respect of The Doctor.

Character Profile: Rose's father. A budding entrepreneur but sadly destined to die in a car accident. On parallel Earth, Pete is very much alive, and a rich and successful businessman.

Character Profile: The Doctors arch enemy, also a Timelord from Gallifrey. He was thought to have died in the Timewar, but had actually fled the battle and diguised himself as a human. He later assumes the identity of Harold Saxon, who has become the newly elected Prime Minister of Britain.

Character Profile: Having helped the Doctor in the past to save earth from an alien invasion, former Flydale North MP Harriet Jones is now British Prime Minister.
