RUBBISH!!! How is series 6 Matt's worst series? In my opinion, the best of the revival.

Someone who agrees with me that series 6 is the best

3) Series 7                                                                                                                                                                   2) Series 5                                                                                                                                                                   1) Series 6

Series 6, in my opinion, was simply incredible. 7A was brilliant, but 7B was very disappointing, particularly Nightmare in Silver (with those seriously annoying kids!) I loved Series 5, but Series 6's story arc was fascinating :)

My personal ratings:

Series five: 9/10

Series six: 7/10

Series seven: 4/10

Please, for once, note that I take ratings seriously. I'm not like most people. 7/10 isn't average to me. 5/10 is. 4/10 is just under average, which I still think is too generous, but 7A is absolutely brilliant. 7B is atrocious. Out of every season/series I have watched, that is the only one that I actively dislike. Rings and Name are rather good though.

Not sure why people liked series 7 so much. The paper think characterisation of Clara ruined it for me

Yay. some results I agree with. Series 5 a very solid series, 6 a bit off the mark, and Seven, after starting off a little shaky, really ended brilliantly.

Series 7 suffered from no two-parters, as often the endings were rushed and unsatisfying and it was like there was hardly any time for a breather or anything.

The episodes that should have been two-parters (in my opinion):

1) The Power of Three (Quick cheap resolution with the sonic screwdriver. The writer could have thought of something more satisfying with the Shakri.)

2) Cold War (Again, quick solution with the Ice Warrior just deciding to leave with no real motive for his actions. Another part could have developed the Ice Warrior's character and made his actions seem more logical.)

3) Journey to the Centre of the Tardis (Big Friendly button restart device was something again really cheap and there should have been something more complicated to end the episode.)

4) The Time of the Doctor (I think Moffat really struggled to tie up 3 series worth of story arc in a one hour special. It all felt rushed really. I would have liked to see two one-hour specials-with the other been on New Years Day or something like with the End of Time, so that everything can flow nicely and come to a more satisfying and non-rused close).

The block-buster theme of the week did work really well for some episodes though. These were:

Asylum of the Daleks, A Town Called Mercy, The Angels Take Manhattan, The Bells of St John, The Crimson Horror.

Agreed- that would be my order too!

My ratings:

1) Series 5- 9/10

2) Series 7- 8/10

3) Series 6- 6/10

It reflects pretty well of this era that people's least favourite series (on average) still got just over 8/10!

NewWho2012
NewWho2012

I do think Series 5 is the strongest but I've never felt it being my favourite Matt Smith series because I was always very dodgy with that series, trying to not get too envious watching Matt's episodes while still getting over the end of the RTD era which I really enjoyed beforehand. Series 6 when I think about it always seems the weakest to me with Series 7 in second place and Series 5 on top probably.

All other series:

1. Series 4

2. Series 1

3. Series 3

4. Series 2 & Specials.

For me (best to worst)-

Series 6

Series 5

Series 7

I love both series 5 and series 6 so it's hard to choose between them. Series 6 is so underrated in my opinion. I was quite disappointed by series 7, mainly series 7 part 2.

MaraBackman

This reflects my own opinion as well for the most part, at least with the order. While I didn't love or even like any of these seasons as much as most people do, I still feel that they all had some entertaining bits even for me. Of all three, Series 5 felt the most solid from start to finish, so the stuff that doesn't appeal to me didn't bother me so much.

While objectively S5 was probably better than S7, I preferred S7, as Matt has been getting better and better as the series have gone on, and I've really enjoyed the chemistry between the Doctor and Clara

1. 5
2. 7
3. 6

And considering the others, too:

1. 3
2. 1
3. 5
4. 4 (+ Specials)
5. 7
6. 2
7. 6

I think single episodes of series 6 are quite good but the "main" episodes, the story arc, is terrible IMHO. And yes, I do think series 3 is the best: best companion, best villain, best finale, best soundtrack... :-)

Yep series 5 is the best, yet series 6 is better than 7. 6 was underrated

For Me:

-- Season 6 - 9.4/10

Of all the series:

1. Series 5

2. Series 6

3. Series 3/ Series 7

4. The specials

5. Series 4

6. Series 2

7. Series 1

I really can't stand series 1 and 2. Series 4 was just okay; I liked the specials a lot more than the actual series, so I had to rank them separately. Series 3 would have been higher had it not been for that atrocious ending.

Oodkind

For me:

1) Series 4 + specials

2) Series 5

3) Series 1

4) Series 3

5) Series 6

6) Series 7

7) Series 2

The top three are really close though... basically whichever I watched most recently ends up at the top. I personally liked Series 6, but it had some letdowns. Both 2 and 7 are good, but just not as brilliant as some of the others, for me. 7 is on top because of Day of the Doctor.

Series 5 was a huge let down for the simple fact that we had to wait so long for it to happen. After following the final Tennant episodes it looked average and sometimes low production values were obvious.

It was a relief to see the standards rise during series 6 and when 7 was broadcast it felt as slick as the RTD period again.

Series 7 is one of my favourite nu-who series, other thant ATCM and Journey, I really can't think of any episode in it I dis-liked, its interesting how time changes the opinion of the fandom though because i remember a poll after NOTD which placed s7 first of these 3

Didn't vote but totally agree with the result. Series 5 was amazing. Series 7 gets second over Series 6 because I'm a little bit in love with Clara.

Above 8/10 for each series is amazingly brilliant

Master Michael Moon

Series 5 definitely deserves the top spot. Full of fantasy, action and a brilliant arc. Series 6 tried new things and had some really good episodes, but I felt it was too arc heavy. Series 7 again went a bit different but after Part 1 the quality of episodes declined I thought.

I'm in total agreement for a change, I hope I'm OK :)

I know all these were voted because of the Matt Smith era, but I am just wondering how the previous 4 series would come out in terms of score compared to 5, 6 and 7

For me:

1) Series 1

2) Series 5

3) Series 4 + The Specials

4) Series 7

5) Series 2

6) Series 6

7) Series 3

1 and 5 are equal and 3 and 6 are equal.

I would say Series 5 is my least favourite out of Matt's three series. Not because its the worst or anything daft like that, simply because the following series got better, how they should do. Series 5 was a clear example of how the Matt/Moffat era was heading and made that way possible with unique storytelling and great, memorable episodes. Series 6 continued that mindset and simply made Matt's era progress in all the right ways as did Series 7. Each series simply got better and Series 7 (in my eyes) just had everything going right for it. A great mash-up of different kinds of episodes and they all brought about a great sense of excitement and style. It rounded Matt's era off perfectly, keeping together what Series 5 and 6 brought to the table and continued to improve and develop them even further. Matt's era was just fantastic and was a pleasure to tune in to. Can't wait to see what Capaldi's era will bring to the table.

For me, each series has gotten better. So I would personally rank them 7654321

Well series 5 for me had some good episodes. But series 7 was the best and Matt has grown so much. And Moffat has to be congratulated on the growth of the programme and that his episodes and story arc were so imaginative. Just a pity Matt's farewell couldn't have been a 2 parter with original scores, but I guess the budget was tight after the 50th.

Stradiwhovius
Stradiwhovius

I can't remember the exact score I gave each series. Series 7 was probably a 4, Series 6 hits me as being a 9, and Series 5 an 8. So overall it all ranks up a bit like this:

1) Series 6

2) Series 5

3) Series 1

4) Series 4

5) Series 3

6) Series 7

7) Series 2

Though it would be more accurate to put them in "bands": Series 5 and 6 being top tier, 1 and 4 the mid-tier, and 3, 7 and 2 being bottom-tier.

@twoheartsonemind Why don't you like series 1 and 2?

My order:

5) Series 7

6) Series 1

7) Series 6

8) The Specials :)

@Ninjauthor  It's because Series 6 and 7 are mainly "favourites" whereas Series 5... it's more like "it was very good, everyone liked it too... but it's not my favourite" So the answer to the poll" Which Series did you prefer ?" Series 6 and 7 came first but with averages like this poll, Series 5 came first ! Anyway I think they were all brillant Series :)

Notsosmartguy
Notsosmartguy

Series 5: Great Start :-)

Series 6: while it had great episodes I feel the arc wasn't that good.

Series 7: I respectfully disagree as I feel it's Matt's best season and I loved all the episodes and Clara managed to become my personal favorite companion as well as putting a nice cap on Matt's era.

Oodkind

@Master Michael Moon Couldn't have said it better myself! I agree, while I really like Series 6, sometimes it got a little too much, when even the totally unrelated episodes had some part of the arc stuck in on the end. I felt like Series 7 really didn't have many episodes that I didn't like, but it had a lot of mediocre episodes that seemed lazy and badly executed.

commanderthunderushmkii
commanderthunderushmkii

@Master Michael Moon  I thought Series 7 went up and down with quality like a sine wave. There would be a lapse in the writing, then an improvement, until it leveled off near the very tail end of its run.

@Regenerated Catterson

For me, it would be

1) Series 4.5 Specials (those between series 4 & 5 -- the other specials I lump in with the previous/current series)

2) Series 2

3) Series 4

4) Series 5

5) Series 1

6) Series 7 (only because the first half, combined with the 50th & Christmas specials raised it up -- if the second half had been as good as the first, I'd probably rate it 2nd or 3rd)

7) Series 6

8) Series 3

But I wouldn't call either 6 or 3 bad TV! :)

Notsosmartguy
Notsosmartguy

For me it would be:

1. Series 1

2. Series 7

3. Series 5

4. Series 3

5. Series 4

6. Series 6

7. Series 2

But honestly I really don't hate any series fully and there are only 2 episodes I consider bad.

@Notsosmartguy For me, the problem with Series 7 was a lack of consistency. Part 1 really worked and I thought it was the better half. Even though it was only comprised of 5 episodes, the quality and story to them were great. From The Snowmen we had too much change too fast and Clara got on my nerves during the entirety of Part 2. Now she is free of the Impossible Girl baggage and facing a brand new Doctor, I do hope her character development increases to a point where I start to recognise her as a constant companion.
