Why the heck is Vampires of Venice this low? It's one of my favourites!

I'm a bit shocked to see Night Terrors so low. While it certainly wasn't a spectacular episode, I thought it did a really good job of creating a creepy atmosphere. The others though, I can't really argue with. :)

That's a bit unfair. Vampires was nothing special but neither did it have massive flaws like some stories. I never liked the Almost People but rewatching it, it was a solid story. Worst of all, Night Terrors, was a modern who story done right. We were made as claustrophobic as that poor child. It had such good characters and it corrected the horrible Fear Her. Not surprised at the other entries though

Wow, I didn't really like The Vampires of Venice that much but I thought lots of people did so I find that quite surprising.

I have to say my least favorite Matt Smith episodes are The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe (glad it's last) and Cold War.

I actually really like Curse of the Black Spot, Victory of the Daleks, Night Terrors and Vampires of Venice. Also, the Rebel Flesh/ Almost People really isn't that bad, certainly better than The Hungry Earth/ Cold Blood.

39 The Power of Three

38. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

37. The Girl Who Waited

36. The Angels Take Manhattan

35. Time of The Doctor

34. Cold War

Here is mine:

39. Rebel Flesh / The Almost People (worst)

38. Victory of the Daleks

37. A Town Called Mercy

36. A Good Man Goes to War

35. The Power of Three

34. Cold War

I hoped Vampires would be higher, but I think that is just because it was my first episode.

Agreed with most except The Vampires of Venice should be higher. The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe is my least favourite overall so I'm glad with that.

OMG! The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People do not deserve to be there at all. It is such a good two episodes and one of the best. It is too underrated. I'll tell you what REALLY SHOULD be THERE! The Time Of The Doctor, The Rings Of Akhaten, The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe, Nightmare In Silver, The God Complex, The Curse Of The Black Spot.

Really really happy with the results here. Can't disagree with any of them. I used to think Vampires of Venice was alright, but I rewatched it recently and it's got some horrible misjudged moments. It's a cool idea, but a meh execution.

I think Vampire's big problem is,while some people really hate it, not enough people loved it. That's the problem with being just OK

In my opinion: 39th - The Doctor the Widow and the Wardrobe

38th - Let's Kill Hitler

37th - Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

36th - The Rings of Akhaten

35th - Curse of the Black Spot

34th - The Snowmen

Though they all move around with others for me depending on my mood

Not just the average scores, we want to see the distribution of scores too!

Yes, we will all find some oddities here and there - that's is just the voting process kicking in. And yes, for me the widow could be a little higher, say around 6,5.

What I find bizarre, is that the lowest score of all 39 'episodes' ('stories' would be a better word), is actually pretty high, considering there are 38 more of them to come. Could it be that we 'll see a grade of a 'perfect' 10 on the top spot? Mind you, a 9,899 and above could be considered as a perfect ten as well. And another thing - just for the sake of it, maybe doctorwhotv could give us any nymbers on the votes?

I don't care what anybody says, Night Terrors was the best and scariest episode EVER! I was suprised to see it so low down

iggycooper64

Shame, I really liked vampires of Venice for some reason. Same goes for the almost people, I thought it was a brilliant concept with some good acting too!

Thesilence_1994
Thesilence_1994

'Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS' and *flame shield up* 'Time of the Doctor' should be in the bottom 5. With the exception of the regeneration episode, these were really bad episodes. 'Night Terrors' and 'Vampires' and perhaps 'Victory' should not be on this list.

The Questor

Surprised that The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People is here, I wouldn't rate it so low. I enjoyed that episode, nothing special, but good nonetheless. Night Terrors is another episode that I wouldn't have on here, but I`m not surprised. These two episodes are very much in the underrated category, which is disappointing.

DaftDalek
DaftDalek

I agree with all of them, except for the Rebel Flesh. Surprised that Nightmare In Silver isn't here. By what I had seen in the comments it seemed that it would be in the bottom 5.

Oncoming_Badger

Bottom 6:
#39 - Let's Kill Hitler

#38 - Night Terrors

#37 - Closing Time

#36 - Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

#35 - The Wedding of River Song

#34 - The Bells of Saint John

*Internally crying at how low Curse, Flesh and Victory are.

TheOncomingSnow

Broadly don't disagree with these. Ask me NT should be bottom, but generally the bottom 6 is right. Vampires of Venice is a slightly strange one, but then again the resolution's bad, so...

I'm wondering if peoples view of Victory of the Daleks is affected by the country in which they reside. As an American, I didn't find anything off putting about the WWII setting.I also wonder if it is due to the disklike of the new versions of the Daleks.

JolomontheCube
JolomontheCube

Vampires of venice? Night Terrors? This isn't good. I like these. AND WHERE'S LET'S KILL HITLER????? (Also, if Asylum of the Daleks is in the top 10, I'll loose all faith in the whovian fanbase)

PeterGecko2
PeterGecko2

Let's Kill Hitler is worse than all of these. So WHERE IS IT!!!!!

Riversmith
Riversmith

The problem I have with voting for these is that, even if I don't like the story so much, I usually want to give 10/10 for Matt Smith's performance alone. He is always brilliant and he really excels in some episodes.

EdWhovian
EdWhovian

No huge surprises, except that Rings of Akahatan wasn't in the bottom few. But i guess we'll see it tomorrow

Honestly, I think it's a testament to how good Doctor Who is that our lowest episode scored "average." I know that I personally didn't rate any episode below a 5 the entire time, so...

@PeterGecko2  I'm sure it 's not going to be ranked too high. It is one of my favorite episodes, however.

DaftDalek

@EdWhovian  While I agree with you on Rings, I think it would be quite high. Lots of people gave it 10s and 9s and I'm surprised with that, too.

I really liked the whole setting and all and was really excited for it, but I was let down because of how kind of messy the whole internet talk was, it just kind of showed a lack of research into that topic area on Moffat's behalf. The spoonheads were kind of lame and yeah just overall some of the technical jargon is a bit kind of unrealistic like Clara in the year 2013 has no idea how to use the internet, they presume she wouldn't know what Twitter is, when everyone knows what Twitter is and lots of little things like that.

PeterGecko2

True. I probably should of remembered to say it was my opinion.

Sorry about that.
