mccoy-mcgann-movieCould a Classic era Doctor make an appearance in the 50th anniversary special after all? We’ve had denials from DWM and past Doctors themselves, but a new rumour gives some hope.

In a report from the Radio Times claiming the 12th Doctor could be announced in August now (this keeps shifting around), they also mention that:

“According to sources, one of either Colin Baker, Paul McGann, Tom Baker, Sylvester McCoy or Peter Davison will be in the feature length special episode alongside Tennant’s Doctor and the current incumbent Matt Smith.”

The site is usually fairly reliable, but something that goes against this is a recent Comic-Con interview with Matt Smith.

When asked specifically if any other past Doctors will appear, Smith’s answer is very clear: “No, no, no. It’s about me, John [Hurt] and Dave [Tennant].”

Is he lying? He doesn’t sound like it, but make your own minds up. The key bit begins around the 4 minute mark.
