2014 National Television Awards Tonight

matt-smith-nta2012-ceremonyReminder: the winners of the 2014 National Television Awards will be announced later tonight live on ITV.

As previously reported, Doctor Who has been nominated for Best Drama. It faces tough competition from Broadchurch, Downton Abbey and Call The Midwife.

Matt Smith is up for Best Drama Performance, against Miranda Hart (Call The Midwife), Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) and Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey).

David Tennant has also been nominated in the new TV Detective category for his role as DI Alec Hardy in Broadchurch. He faces favourite Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock),  Idris Elba (Luther), Olivia Colman (Broadchurch) and Suranne Jones (Scott & Bailey).

The awards ceremony is broadcast live tonight on ITV from 7.30pm. It can be watched online here.
